materias for Viper question

Im really looking forward to the dual wielding melee dps making it my alt and all i can say is im very excited! I get that assassins creed vibe which i love My question is what materias they mainly focused on and for secondary option? (DET, CRIT, DH, SKS) Im already hunting down scouting gear sets and aiming accessories (regret discarding it away T___T) so i can be ready and prepared when DT launches. Thanks!

Nobody knows what Viper will look like, but if you just want stuff for leveling it really doesn't matter. You could go full skill speed and all of the gear will be replaced before you're halfway to max level in Dawntrail. If you really want to pre-meld your gear just max crit wherever possible and det or dhit where crit is already capped.

There is about an 80% chance that Viper will want 0 skillspeed. A ~19% chance that it will want an amount of skill speed to meet some specific GCD breakpoint, and a 1% chance that it will want an undefined amount of skill speed (E.G. Black Mage and spell speed.)

When in doubt, just build for 0 speed, and the standard crit>dhit>det>>>>>sks.

I've heard rumors that the parsing community does crit/det/dhit and just hopes for a lucky dhit run. And there are niche builds for some content, such as Summoner in ucob/uwu, which runs spell speed as its primary stat. But they're few and far between to my knowledge.

Unless they revamp stats and materias so crit and Dhit aren't the no brainers best choice (which tbh, they did do that back then for the Strength materia being removed since every tanks just slotted that)

This really. Unless they recalculate how stats work, Crit and DHit are always going to be the go to, which is a shame.

We really ended up in the very situation they tried to get away from. It must be pretty frustrating for the devs as well.
