It was pointed out in numerous threads. Then talk about her performance. Unfortunately, you all keep pointing towards her gender identity as an issue, which it is not.
I would take a break from this thread, collect your thoughts, and then return when you can properly lay them out without somehow making it about gender identity. It's not relevant.
I look forward to seeing any actual criticisms.
You guys put up with Alphinaud and Urianger for starters?
I mean come on?
Wuk Lamat is great and different, also keep in mind she is from another part of the world in FFXIV... it would be terrible if had some kind of British Accent or American or the likes...
Give it some time to let it actually sink in, before you complain, it is more like that people want and like to be racist at first sight or being judgemental to the extremes, which is what we need less of on Planet Earth, just look around a bit with horrible things going on in general as of current.
I honestly don't find the voice acting that horrible? It's not top notch quality, but it's passable. Her personality will definitely annoy the hell out of me because I just don't like this type of peppy, upbeat character. As for her design, that's unfortunately what Hrothgals are like. They're furry Femroes with uncanny valley nightmares for faces.
She is guilt for being....too cute

hope is the first step on the road to disappointment
I agree the face is uncanny. The voice seems fine, and overall the character was pretty fun so far. Hopefully it means a nice fun adventure ahead. Need a bit of a palate cleanser after the embodiment of depression and the embodiment of edgy.
The character herself is great. The Japanese voice actor conveys such a high energy tomboy persona that it's infectious.
What the hell? Have I played a different game? I actually found her amazing and beautifully silly, which fits perfectly into so many narratives and characters in FF14. For me her voice perfectly fit her character, which I found playful, funny and witty. Finally another character that can have some fun, is relatable and likeable. The voice actor is terrible, the personality is worse, her face looks uncanny, fake, terrifying and completely out of place, everything about this character is the epitome of the wrong direction this game has been taking.
It's hard to believe I'm living in a time where I appreciate Stormblood and Zenos more than this effluvia.
Pay your surgeon very well to break the spell of ageing.
I think this is a common mischaracterization-- that what is being asked here is for "inclusivity" (a word I haven't used one time). That would be arguing for hiring trans people just for the sake of it. Here we have a case where someone is asking for roles to be represented by actual trans people because the characters are trans...not because they "deserve" but because theoretically an actor can't just wake up and be trans ans may even be anti trans. Acting is predicated on playing roles you aren't-- like playing a teacher, a doctor, or a historical figure. Once you get into representing particular cultures, groups, nationalities, religions etc it can be strange. I don't think Sena is calling for strict "every single trans character must be voiced by trans" here but rather, once again, using a day of Visibility to call attention to a lack of major roles that feature characters who lean heavily into the trans identity that aren't actually played by people with a trans identity. And voice acting is not just about the voice-- that is insulting to the art form.
I personally don't care at all about this. Trying to cast me as woke is a waste of time. I like the character and the VA-- the rest of it is how I analyze the situation based on the tweets and it just seems to me many interpretations are overly emotional and driven by bigotry.
Bruh what is this thread.
Wuk Lamat has been here for one quest and is already "the worst character" ? Are you kidding me ? Do you read the first chapter of a children's book and close it 'cause the main character is immature ? Character growth, setup ? All that jazz ?
I swear some of you have no idea how stories work.
Anyway, Wuk Lamat is funny, can't wait to see what kind of stuff happens with her. Hope she grows as fierce as she tries to be.
Yeah, she grew on me as I finished up the bit of MSQ we received in the patch. Excited to see her growth and see how SE is gonna break her down to build actual confidence instead of false bravado.Bruh what is this thread.
