I didn't enjoy Wuk Lamat, but I really do not get the hate for the VA here. The scene during the attack on Tulliyolal as she's knelt next to a dead citizen and her reaction to her father's death were extremely well done and made me get misty eyed.

Yeah, the final battle "SPHENE LISTEN TO ME" line is really cringe, but honestly I'm not sure any actor could have made that moment not be terrible. It sounded to me like the voice direction was really off here, like they didn't have the scene or visuals finalized so the actor and/or director had nothing to go off of for how she should sound in that part. That's not the VA's fault.

I think that's really underselling the importance of delivery. It's really cringe because of the delivery. The words aren't remarkable. Wuk Lamat's VA problems are all that she has an extremely narrow expressive range in scenes that really demand some energy.

But this isn't unique to Wuk Lamat, at all. Especially in American voice work, the range that female voices are just Allowed To Be is embarrassingly narrow. This has everything to do with the director and producer, and as others have said, they should be pointing arrows at the direction/production than the actor. There's LOADS of mediocre voice actors (if ARR was any indication.) Those people are just as free to live their best lives as the rest of us, who are also mostly mediocre.

This situation is just dumb, and people need to chill and let the game have its downswings without it impacting their damn gaming identities.

This sounds like a bunch of deflections. For starter, outside of the internet, have ANYONE ever used the "it's ok to be bad because someone else is worse" as a defense for anything and see how successful it is?

    - Over speed and get a ticket? Try to argue with the cop they should let you go because they didn't catch other who even speed faster.
    - Screw up at work? Try to tell your boss you should be fine because others screw up too!

Go ahead, try it, see how it works.

Those people are just as free to live their best lives as the rest of us,
You can live your best lives that you can earn, asking any more than what your ability can provide is just entitlement. You know what is my best life would look like? A home on the beach with 10 mil dollars in the bank. I'm "free" to dream about that life, to make that happen though ... that's a different story.

    who are also mostly mediocre.
Maybe, but most people also don't try to punch above their weight. I wonder if some of you are just lacking in real life experience. If you works at some place for a long time, you'll notice the majority of people actually avoid promotion and extra responsibility. I myself had repeatedly turn down offer and willfully let many "opportunities" just pass by, because I know my limit. I know if I advance to the next step in my career, I would go from being the office hero to the office villain over night.

How to speed ruining your career 101: accept a task that's way above your ability. And this is a wisdom that applies not only to individuals, but even companies all the same. Accept a contract or bid that above your company ability to honor? Well, a loss of reputation, a breach of contract fine, maybe even bankruptcy are all on the menu. Argue if the company doesn't deserve such fate if you wish, but ... c'est la vie.

And anyone asking the question "who would let such big opportunity go by"? First, the answer will be "a lot of people do". And second, by asking that question ... well, to me that just show they don't have a lot of life experience.

    I can agree on this.

For instance, when Wuk Lamat crashes in on the final trial, her first line should have been more strained and yelled, and it seemed like a genuine voice direction issue because she does it later in that same sequence.

    Otherwise it was fine.

i agree, Lamaty'i's Japanese VA did an amazing job. too bad English got snubbed and left with an amateur who forces an accent and delivers everything with a flat affect.

It's genuinely amusing how these people complain that enjoyers of Wuk Lamat's English VA just shouldn't open the thread where they're "criticizing" her performance will then come right in here just to try and complain even more.

Let's say I'm weirdo, you think you gonna make me any weirder by repeating it another dozen of time?

And if I'm a weirdo, what does that say about you who kept shadowing me to tell me how weird I am?

Let's say my hobby is actually about being a weirdo, does that make your hobby is about "stalking weirdo"?

In short, what kind of person are you to show such obsession with a weirdo like me?

You see I'd actually respond to this-

But that incoherent mess of a weird response just proves my point, thanks for making an example of yourself.

Don't be a weirdo folks, it makes you do some really weird stuff.

At least I'm not the one "pretending" not to response -

Yet you still responded any way, thanks for making an example to prove my point for me.

Don't stalk a weirdo folks, it makes you look even weirder than the weirdo.

I told you before I can always play this game with you. I just hope I'm entertaining you as much as you're entertaining me.

    Be you:

Goes to a public forum, and knowingly goes into a topic that is praising the VA for Wuk Lamat to take a dump on them instead.

Gets called out for weird behavior.

Claims that anyone calling them out is a stalker despite going into a public space to interact with those exact people.

Weirdos being weird. Normal people don't act and speak like this dude.
