Please Give Tanks a Resurrection Skill

Since this is apparently not the place for high-school English level humor:

Before I posted, I was set to write a full on rant about how frustrating it is to be dead on the floor with tanks who won't wipe wasting more time than it would take to go ahead and reset the fight. This is because it happened to me in a new duty that was out for less than 24 hours, so yes, half the party went down, and no, we don't know the mechanics yet, and we shouldn’t have to have the fight memorized the first turn through to get to play.

I thought it would be more fun to write something ironic and outrageous than just be another voice shouting angrily into the void, and I really thought what I wrote was obvious enough that others would see that.

There is a famous essay called A Modest Proposal, by Jonathan Swift, which I referenced with a link in my second post. Basically, he made a suggestion to solve poverty that was so outrageous it was obviously ironic (not all irony is sarcasm, but that's another conversation). Calling something “a modest proposal” is a figure of speech referring to the essay. I linked to an article explaining this, since I figured just mentioning it might not be obvious enough…

Obviously, giving tanks a res is not the solution, and I am actually very frustrated when they won't wipe already. But I didn't think it would be helpful to just complain, since enough people do that already, and it is pretty obvious that this is a deliberately absurd idea, written in a way that sounds absurd. Who worships tanks that much? And the idea that they get to fly in duties in DT? I’m really not sure why anyone would think that wasn’t a joke….

I’m kinda sad to learn that this is the kind of thing that happens regularly here, but not as sarcasm or other forms of irony. I posted here because it’s the official forum, where supposedly suggestions are actually heard sometimes. If this is the normal, I’m not so sure about that anymore...

I’ve edited the previous posts to label them as irony. This didn’t go like I hoped it would, so I’m just gonna go do something else now Y’all have a good weekend.

if it makes you feel better i caught the humor in your post and had a light chuckle, dont stress over it, anonymity generally leads to a lot of needless nit picking and unnecessary aggression over the slightest of things, dont feel like you got to defend yourself, it was perfectly clear what your intent was in the post. this is either a troll thread or just a innocent player unaware of the implications of their request, but the forum is feeding on it like a pack of angry jackals. <3

You gotta understand that when people have seethed in bad design decisions, self loathing and constant worsening of the product that they liked some people lose all reason.
So yes you should have just went with the meme further and beyond.

An idea I've waxed before with friends is for a tank such as Paladin to have a resurrection that has a shared cooldown with their Invulnerability (Hallowed Ground).
This avoids a tank being able to use their invuln to cheese past a mechanic and then raise party members. The tank sacrifices a very valuable tool in order to raise the healer. I feel this could be more useful in situations where only the healer(s) have died and everyone else is still alive.

I still feel that if only 1 or 2 tanks are the ones left alive the boss is nowhere near dead, the party as a whole should decide if the tanks should try and slug it out or not.

You do kind of have a point in that if SE absolutely insist on tank/healer balance that allows tanks to solo bosses from 30%, is it actually better for everyone else in the duty to be forced to watch the gruelingly slow grind from spectator mode rather than be eventually brought back into gameplay?

why not just give us a "vote to wipe" button that will reset the fight, bam savages isnt 8 warriors per party, and yall can make sure the warrior that wants to prove themselves, on the easiest class to not die on, doesn't get to waste 20 mins of your time fighting 80% of a boss bar...

I offer another solution that already exists in the game:

Phoenixfeather, let us use them in combat. (maybe disable in savage/ultimate)

Upsides : Everyone can use it, but you can only carry one at a time.

Only being able to carry one Phoenix Down at a time makes this a non-solution. The only way it would work would be to make them stackable and easily obtainable and then put a 15 min cooldown on them so that nobody can use two in the same pull but they reset after a wipe. But as long as they're Unique they're not worth using because nobody wants to leave the instance every time someone needs to replenish their singular Phoenix Down.
