[Feedback] Wuk Lamat's English Voice

If people can keep it to just the performance, then it's fine in my eyes. If people automatically accuse others of being a bigot despite no bigotry being found in their opinion, then you can disregard those posts because they're just posting in bad faith. That said, there have been (quite recently, two blatant ones to be exact) transphobic comments made in this thread and those do no favours for the "I dislike Wuk Lamat's English voice" crowd as it'll make anyone looking in at a quick glance assume "oh that must be why" if they see those kinds of posts (number of likes on those kinds of posts really don't help, either). These people you should call out if you don't want to be associated with them at all just for sharing the same opinion on voice performance (but not for the same reasons).

Like I said, criticism and feedback is a good thing. I just don't see the good in needlessly putting others down for simply having a different opinion. That's why I said circlejerk.

Wuk Lamat is the perfect storm of voice actor limitations, bad direction, and bad writing.

The writing is pretty rough from the get-go, so it's going to hurt performance as well as potentially intensify dislike if you REALLY don't like the writing. Writing is bad and Wuk is the bulk of writing so Wuk is bad sorta deal.
The voice direction is, pretty clearly, rough. Speeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeen comes to mind. There is no way in hell the director told the VA what was happening in that scene if that's the end result.
The voice actor as well is just limited. Let's call a spade. You have a relatively new voice actor with the natural complications that being trans can bring to the table in terms of vocal range trying to be emotional while also forcing an accent. That's balancing way too much and it just fails every time. I'm not going to touch on the allegations of Kate friend-hiring, or her not actually being Puerto Rican or whatever, I just don't think she's the right fit for the job. Not yet, not in this game. Side character for sure, main, 90%+ of an msq character? not so much.

I can't say for certain what needs to change. What I can say for certain is I didn't enjoy wuk lamat. At all. Please god give anyone else screentime I beg of you

I would argue that its more legendary how people try to defend the bad voiceacting just because the VA is a part of a certain group.
Or how it makes you guys insult other people or label them names. *Shrug*

At the end the VA was a bad choice for a main charakter because the VA clearly lacks the skills.

And judging by some more reading the VA also seems to be a bad person overall... makes it even more weird that you guys keeps defending? But I guess as long you are a part of a certain group you can behave like this... *shrugs*

you can thank the global elites for fracturing western society (they got scared after occupy wallstreet). they are terrified when they see caucasians, people of color, lgbtqia++, etc united in a singular purpose against them. they pushed idpol super hard and now we are in a situation where tribalism is running wild

German voices and voice acting are also bad in my opinion. In the 4th zone it was so terribly bad that I had to switch to Japanese original voices.
The german voice acting was so strange that I could no longer take the npc's or the story seriously. :/

I also like Wuk Lamats original voice acting much more then the german one. : )

I can't say for certain what needs to change. What I can say for certain is I didn't enjoy wuk lamat. At all. Please god give anyone else screentime I beg of you

A better voice actor is what needs to change.

While I wish they could replace the dub, the writing for this character is also pretty bad and the voice won't help with that part. Also if they didn't re-dub ARR I doubt we'll ever get a replacement. I'd rather they just push this character into the background from here on out and we move on.

Not mine, an FC mate sent me this. His words "so this technically means the voice actors were DEI hires right?" It's great that more Latin Americans have jobs and what not, but I hope they didn't just hire based on that and actually on skill too because that would kind of mean the reason we got bad voice quality was they focused more on race than skill. I'm still surprised we didn't get Christina Vee, for being such a well renowned Latina in the American VA community, to voice an important character.



And as always, more proof to the pile to why Sena had difficulty voicing Wuk. People keep saying it's voice direction, which it partially is, but the other part is just that she can't do the female range for Wuk, and why the fake accent was so bad.









A question on my part though, because all these LGBTQ+ stuff is confusing as heck, people can race swap now IRL right? Because in 2016 she said she was White, but now she's Latina. Is that like normalized now? Can you actually put that on like your health information and what not now? Also if you're gay and trans, would that make you a guy that swapped to be a girl that still likes girl right? or is it a guy that swapped to be a girl but likes guys? I can't mentally process it.

Wuk Lamats VA was 100% DEI-hire.
Since the VA has not the skills to fullfill a leading role. Thats all there is to know.

People can try to argue around it but wont change it.

I am curious why the western market doesnt learn that this only makes their products worse and people sooner or later
no longer want to buy their products anymore.

To answer the LGBT+ part of the question: The orientation part (gay/bi/straight) goes by what you identify as, cause that's your experience.
So for example, if someone's a trans guy, so he was born with a female body but lives as a guy now, and he says he's straight, that means he likes girls. Cause he sees the world through the eyes of a guy, and women are the other gender. And the other way round.
So if she says she's trans and gay, and she's a trans woman, she likes girls cause to her they're the same gender.

The race thing's completely outside of LGBT+ stuff though; even in the most progressive spaces people agree that that's different and you can't change your race, and I don't know what's going on here.
Maybe she's got both origins and used to see herself as one thing more, and later another, with different life experiences?
I'm also not American, and I don't understand how Americans see race. I try, but I don't get it. So that's the best guess I have.

So, basically "I suck at these very specific things!" *gets hired for those very specific things, and proceeds to suck at those very specific things*

Why hire that?! And for that matter, if you have the self awareness that you suck at things like that, why accept that role?

The more I see from this trash, and this expansion, the angrier I get. Because god dammit, the sheer amount of people that signed off on this, that thought THIS was acceptable... Every single one of them should lose their jobs, because they clearly are not capable of being competent at them.
