    Animation/Server Lag or Windows Aero?

    I thought this was common knowledge, but there are many people still suffering from this issue.

    The FFXIV game client is effected by running any Windows Aero Desktop settings.
    This is for both Windows Vista and Windows 7.

    It causes extreme graphical lag and stuttering. (which I think a lot of people are contributing to server lag)

    Post a "Like" here if this helped with any graphical lag issue you may be experiencining.

    (My test setup for comparison was an Intel i5 2500k, M4 SSD, AMD 6950 2GB, 8GB Ram, Windows 7 Ultimate)

    No change in average framerate going from using aero to not using aero. Not that my performance was bad in the first place.

    Maybe it's just an issue with certain drivers or video cards.

    The actual framerate doesn't seem to change. What does is the time to load NPC's. With Windows Aero on, it makes your own character and NPC animation laggy/delayed (Ifrit Cracks?). I'm not sure what really causes it, because Aero isnt' that much of a resource hog. It probably just takes it a bit to figure out how to render the image and keep the edges of the window transparent.

    I agree though, it could be a video card/driver issue with Aero as well.

    My 470 GPU load dropped by 20% without aero. It allowed me to turn AO on.

    Awesome. Were the loading speeds of character sprites and battle animations increased, or less laggy?

    If you're running in full screen mode (the kind you can't alt-tab out of), the Aero desktop is not rendered. Turning it off makes no difference in that case.
