Actually can’t even argue that lol. You’re 100% right.New toy syndrome. There's going to be a lot of casuals coming to play through the MSQ and pick up the new jobs. Most of them will not read their tooltips, and even if the job quests start off holding their hands with a slight walkthrough like the RPR and SGE quests do, there's still likely to be a lot of people who will get to endgame with PIC/VPR while having zero idea of what they're doing.

My first guess is PCT, and since people know what I mean at a glance when I use it in-game I'm going to stick to it until the expansion comes out and says otherwise.

If Pictomancer paint globs affects being about to see ground AOE attacks I sure won't party with any. I will just have to wait and see.

I like PCT PIC is good but ? I'll play it and see of i like it better than blm I always hated blm
sagacious

It sounds like it might be a bit more mobile? Granted this is just based on what YoshiP said about some paintings taking a long time so you can use your OGCDs while you wait. The picture it puts into my head is that you start casting something, but it doesn't interrupt from OGCDs so you're free to spam whatever you have available during the big cast until it goes off. And with that, it'd also mean you have a bunch of instants you can pop while on the move. Another pipe-dream idea I had is that there could be a choose-your-own-AoE, where you have to use the ability three times, and the target area becomes the triangle that's defined as you finish the third one.

Whilst Pictomancer isn't going to by my main job, it could end up being my main caster, depending on how it plays.
I am! I really loved the concept of the job... 100% sure just when I get to play it, but I can't think it would end up having a trainwreck playstyle, the recent jobs are pretty much polished when it comes to gameplay design.
Acronym is def. PIC... it just sounds better, but who knows!

I don't know if I'll main picto or viper but I am definitely excited to try them out. They both look like a lot of fun.

Yeah I don’t know. I think DT expansion we might see the casters lose their Rez. Summoner I can see but rdm I’m not sure about but then people will only take rdm for prog since it can Rez. Unless people run double caster but I doubt it. Unless they change the range tax. It’s so much we don’t know yet but yeah I have s bad feeling about caster Rez for DT.Probably like Dancer or Bard. But with all the information out at the moment they still have told us nothing about how it will actually play. Gotta wait for the media tour for that. They made things vague enough to where Picto isn't a support but also isn't a BLM DPS despite having no battleraise. And being considered a support job is classes that have a raise for some people.
I feel like they don't want to say too much as it might exclude other jobs from parties if Picto is "too good" at what it does.
The current description does point to being similar to FFXI Geomancers. Elemental Spells and supportive abilities just not as much damage as Black Mages.
However the current design philosophy is Casters with raise do low damage and Casters without do high damage.
Probably gonna be slightly below BLM but above SMN and RDM.
I don't think the game is capable of a support job. It's all about DPS here.
