Probably like Dancer or Bard. But with all the information out at the moment they still have told us nothing about how it will actually play. Gotta wait for the media tour for that. They made things vague enough to where Picto isn't a support but also isn't a BLM DPS despite having no battleraise. And being considered a support job is classes that have a raise for some people.

I feel like they don't want to say too much as it might exclude other jobs from parties if Picto is "too good" at what it does.

The current description does point to being similar to FFXI Geomancers. Elemental Spells and supportive abilities just not as much damage as Black Mages.

However the current design philosophy is Casters with raise do low damage and Casters without do high damage.

Probably gonna be slightly below BLM but above SMN and RDM.

I don't think the game is capable of a support job. It's all about DPS here.

Well, yoship straight up said it wouldn't be a support class during the keynote, so there's that.

Yeah there are no purely support jobs in ffxiv. Even dancer isn’t purely support. I think it will have a bit of utility like bard. Basically it will be the bard of the casters. Because bard is in between mch and dancer. Pictomancer though I feel it will be slightly above rdm. I can also see it being in between blm and summoner. It won’t be damage focus like blm but will have support and utility.

Will level it up to the level cap but probably won't main it. There's definitely going to be a lot of groans irl when people see PIC/VPR in their parties though.

We'll see. Wanna get it my hands before I make a decision. RDM has been my main since Stormblood, might be time to change things up. I'll miss chain rezzing, though...commendations going to the WHM after I single handedly rezzed 6 people off the floor preventing a party wipe? Twice?...not so much.

Most of them will not read their tooltips, and even if the job quests start off holding their hands with a slight walkthrough like the RPR and SGE quests do, there's still likely to be a lot of people who will get to endgame with PIC/VPR while having zero idea of what they're doing.

Don't really main anything. I tend to play every job. However I think I'll probably end up playing Pictomancer more than Viper.
