Add 200 because screw it why not, to account for glam items made from expensive materials, items that can't readily be replaced, or cash shop purchases. 500. So, I don't know how close exactly you are to your limit, but I'm going to have to guess you have 200+ items at a minimum in your dresser that you are never going to use, are not hard to get, and are pure cruft. Throw that crap away.
70% of my glam dresser has items that are super grindy to get or is no longer obtainable. (I play PvP) I have 785 stuff in my glam dresser. (I think thats the number) I don't keep armor that can be crafted in my glam dresser unless its blue rarity or level 1 cosmetics, if green, i give them to retainers to wear. All my glam plates are filled with pvp sets, casual outfit i made, a beach outfit i made, a gardening outfit i made, pvp sets but with some of the Kinna weapons for certain classes and my old special outfit i made when i first started the game.

I only have like 15 accessories in my dresser I think. Emperor, hard to obtain ones, plus BInding coils earrings, i wanna add the Orthos, HoH and POTD earrings and accessories to it too.

The other 30% is tomestone gear/weapons.

I feel like if Daybreak Games (DCUO) was able to solve this problem, then SE could easily do it. Don't let Daybreak Games be better than you....

I occasionally go through it, look at pieces and ask "Have I thought of a glam that uses this or made one that uses this in the last month or two?" If yes, keep. If no, toss. That simple.

I know what I would like my character to look like, and I only keep pieces that fit that style.

I'm a chronic glam hoarder. I toss in and out items regularly depending on glam mood 'cause I'm perpetually at 770-800 slots range lmao. My general questions that I ask myself for each pcs:
    1. "Do they come from ARs, EX/Savage floors & Capstone Dungeons?"
These are IMHO the worst pieces to farm as there's no way to guarantee their drop and/or a hassle to pick up. Once they're in, it's unlikely they'll ever leave until I decide I'm no longer interested to glam these.
    2. "How often do I use this piece?"
Seems the most obvious. The more I use these, the less likely I'll toss them out.
    3. "Did I dye them in Pure White/Jet Blacks?"
Depending on the timing, these dyes can eat 300k to a million gil. They're unlikely to be tossed out once dyed into the dresser.
    4. "Are these leveling dungeon/crafted pieces?"
Let's say that I answer the 2nd question with a '5/10', meaning that I use these but not so often. If I desperately need a better piece to be shoved in, I'd discard craftables >>> leveling dungeon pieces because their reacquisition aren't gated by pure RNG.

Relic weapons are a non-issue to me despite having completed them all because I put all the ones that I like into my saddlebag and only take them out to glam manually. The originals/the ones that I don't quite like are shoved into one of my retainer's.

Ooh, this is a good one. I forgot about this, but I also take special care to be very careful what I choose to dye these colors. It can be tough to stomach turning an easy to obtain white item worth 1k or less on the MB into a 350k+ glamour piece. Alas, what we do for the sake of glamour!

For the lv.1 armor glams, you can double check ; often for old ones you have the dyeable and undyeable version of the same gear, no need to keep the later

I implemented a rule for myself a while back that has helped keep me under the glamour dresser cap ever since, which is that if an item has a shared appearance with something else in the game that is more easily obtainable (i.e., probably craftable/vendor bought) AND especially if that more easily obtainable item is dyeable where my original piece is not, unless I am actively using that item for a glam or I am REALLY attached to its specific color scheme, I will typically not keep it. I tend to collect gear from 24 mans, but using this method helped me get rid of a lot of sets from the earlier 24 man raids, as they now often share appearances with crafted gear. If you're not sure if there's an "appearance dupe" for an item in question, my favorite way to look up that information is to find the item on this website and see if it lists any "Shared Models," and then look into how I would obtain those, if I don't know off the top of my head: https://www.garlandtools.org/db/#

I also only keep certain types of gear in my glamour dresser, the rest gets kept on my retainers. Most gear that I choose to hold onto from 4-mans gets kept on my retainers, for example. I'd only put stuff like that in the dresser if I was actively going to use it, then I'd probably take it out again after that for organizational purposes/keeping all of my different categories of stuff in their "assigned" areas.

Continue to tell them to implement a proper glamour log rather than this glorified bank they went with.

Step 1: get rid of anything that can be bought for tomes or off the Calamity Salvager.
Step 2: Go to the boots slot and get rid of the 150 pairs of boots you thought looked cool but never wore.
Step 3: Enjoy your 200 extra slots.
