"Artist" is too vague and covers music and dance, BRD and DNC falls under the "Artist" category.
Pictography is the exact word of someone who works by drawing pictures.
-Mancer suffix is used to designated someone using something for mystical, divine, magic purpose.

Such as Geomancer.
If it was Geomancer no one would complain about its name.
