[Graphical Update] Skin tone saturation concern.

Firstly I think the skin looks great the texture and lighting add a nice dewy look to the skin that will work far better in lighting than the old skin which was so very flat in the texture and how it was lit.

HOWEVER I think the only thing that me and some others are concerned about is the saturation of specifically darker skin tones in the game once the graphical update has happened. You can see in the before and after that with races like the female Miqo'te and male Highlander that a lot of warmth in the deeper skin tones is missing and looks a lot more cool tone leaning to grey comparably, there are obviously saturated and desaturated skin tones for each race in the customisation options, but I want to make sure those options are still viable and that the rich hues stay rich while also benefitting from the new lighting.

I'm just hoping it's the lighting because right now, the plastic doll look is very worrisome.
I feel like there was a loss of sharpness from the original to the "update".

It's unclear if the devs used the same base skin tones for the models to compare or perhaps updated all skin tones resulting in some new ones being mismatched from the old. I have an exceptionally hard time believing you won't be able to select a warm undertone dark skin in the new update.

Also the very neutral seeming daylight source isn't helping. I'm not trying to launch any accusations either but it does seem like a lot of people are jumping on this for clout. It's not like the update has warm undertones for anyone really. At least not the newest one as I recall seeing it.

Could also see the hair was desaturated. But that could also be a texture thing with new texture not being made in the same style as the old ones.

If/when we get character creation update, I'd just like to have better color picker.
Except my black hrothgar, I don't think I've ever ran with exceptionally dark skinned character. My most played characters are at 5/8 and 6/8 column.
My old main which I'd like to employ again at some point is male xaela for whom I would have liked to give lil bit greyer skin. But there just aint the perfect color.
(He looks like olive skinned person whom you dropped in dust bag. In low, enough light he looks perfect.)
My current character coloring woes are aimed at hair colors, actually. Would like to give one character just very natural, borderline plain looking brown hair from inbetween medium and dark, with not much red hue glowing through.
Mission impossible again. Only the redder browns go as dark as I'd like my character to have, while the yellower browns stop at dry hay tones.

I think it would actually benefit the game to have a color wheel in not only character customization so we can pick out the perfect shades and tones, but also in terms of dyes. I think they could just sell one dye in the store/game ("Multicolored Dye") that acts as a color wheel. Just add a color wheel SE!!

The darker skin tones post-update are how they are because players asked for their darker skinned characters to actually be visible in low light environments like Ultima Thule. If they dial it back the darker skinned characters will be invisible again.

Was there any talk in the fan fest about when we might expect to see the Benchmark for Dawntrail? As that will likely be the best bet for seeing how various kinds of characters will look with the update.

After playing with the color balances a bit I genuinely think it's the white light they chose for the glossiness color

You can actually just barely see the cool bluish light on the original model that the updated shaders cranked up to 11.

If you fudge the values a bit to take out some of that blue/cyan, you can get that warmer tone back.

    (not perfect but, eh!)

Also I'm suuuuuuper not a fan of how string-like the hair looks now. The individual strands are too defined, too bold. Reminds me of the error every developing artist makes where they try to draw Every Strand instead of giving an abstraction of detail. Like compare the lower part of the bangs and how chunky that is, or the part where the sides are swept up into the ponytail an how muddy that texture is. Am I crazy for thinking it looks like some automated upscale?

If you don't know anything about how saturation of textures works and it having nothing to do with specular detail, it's best not to speak on the topic and look as embarrassing as you do.
