Are we being set up for more elemental calamities?

We’re heading into another expansion without a dedicated aero/stone/water user.

Before someone says red mage, red mage was specifically created so that their focusing crystal made it so they don’t need to pull ambient aether from surrounding elements. Post BLM/WHM war where the rampant use of all elements BUT water caused the star to be unbalanced and over abundant in water aspected aether, flooding the star.

I can assume that devs know they haven’t added a stone or aero animation or upgrade since Stormblood, in favor of Glare/Dia.

Could we possibly be heading for a story beat in over abundance of stone/wind instead of dark/light (for once)?

There are plenty of low level Conjurers who are still using aero and stone. Blue mages also have multiples aero/stone/water spells.

Not sure how serious you are with this but that’s not how or why the flood happened and was made up by players and spread around as fact.

Also WHM uses water magic with aquaveil today and before Endwalker there was fluid aura. And there’s just one active WHM stone user but a whole bunch of conjurers.

Also, also, an actual Calamity requires Ascians getting up to no good and tipping a shard's aether to a certain element that feeds that same element on the Source. Since the Ascians are dead that can never happen again unless the writers invent something new from nothing.

Figuring the force responsible for sundering the world into shards is no longer present. It seems perfectly possible the remaining shards could try to forcefully rejoin on their own or at the very least collide with the source

But the way they tipped the shards to certain elemental balances was by manipulating people into doing things that would cause those imbalances. Like encouraging Ardbert and crew to do acts of heroism tipping the world more and more towards light as they got closer to peace and stability. At the same time, releasing Black Rose would have had the impact on the Source because it was light aspected. There are 2-4 Ascians unaccounted for depending on how much Gaius knows about killing them, so it's possible for them to still take actions, though their efforts would be greatly diminished with the paragons gone.

That being said, it took legions of black and white mages at war to destabilize the Source enough to cause a calamity, given the knowledge behind those magics is now highly guarded, I do not believe we will make that mistake again. Especially since it takes complementary actions to be taken on one of the shards for us to absorb it.

There are still about 3 Sundered Ascians not fully accounted for/ confirmed killed with Auracite or similar method.

It's kinda murky how many are left. Halmarut and Pashtarot are completely unaccounted for. Altima's fate hasn't been shown on screen, but Gaius had her mask among those on his belt as Shadowhunter, so it depends whether or not he has some way to generate a Blade of Light or similar to actually destroy her, or just chased her off. Emmerololth was present in a meeting shown in a cut scene back in the 2.x patches, but was later shown to have been destroyed by Galuf Baldesion when he sent the Isle of Val into the Lifestream, which should've taken place before that. Whether that was a mistake, a retcon, or a replacement Emmerololth that was haven't heard from since is currently unknown.

So there are between two and four major Ascians unaccounted for.

Along a slightly different line did anyone else notice how many times with all sorts of different features YoshiP specifically pointed out that something was connected to a specific elemental aspect?

This might play out to be a fairly big deal.
