Is there a source for that? That's craaaaazy. So so all the hours of work spent on that, just gone? I find it hard to believe, but at same time I'm not shocked if that did indeed happen after arr released. I remember few years back, blizzard was asked about remaking Diablo 2. They said that it wasn't possible because of the programming back then.... Maybe source code? But here we are few years later, they found a way to remake Diablo 2.

I feel that in the end, money can solve the problem, if they want to do it

It definetely happens - Square themselves famously binned the master files for FFVII after it was released - it's why the PC port of FFVII was so buggy, Eidos (who was an independent company back then), were given an earlier beta build version rather than the final masters used by Sony for the PS1 version, as Square said the original FFVII master version no longer existed and couldn't be located, and was presumed deleted for some reason.

Given 1.0 was an utter failure as as a game, ARR did not need the original client files to run, and SE were frankly wanting to wash their hands of the whole debacle, little wonder they binned 1.0 completely.
