All of the enemies and NPCs having been handled server side, and none of those files exist anymore so there's no way for them to just bring back the original servers.
It'd be more likely for them to remake the MSQ of 1.x as a standalone game.
They should put that energy into a FFXI remake instead.
lol, I got my son to play through FFXIV from ARR to the end of Endwalker with me and my dad (3 Generations of Lalafells) one day he asked me if there was any way to play 1.0. I told him that "there was a private server project at one point where you could at least walk around and see the world, but there weren't any NPC's or monsters or anything. I played 1.0 and it wasn't very good. Besides, there was no jump button." and at the 'no jump button' he said oh, well never mind then.
The difference is that vanilla WoW, despite it's myriad issues, was actually a good game.I'd like to see it given a Crisis Core style treatment, as a single-player prequel, so the story can be experienced, but as an addition to the MMO? I don't think WoW Classic set a great precedent for this kind of thing, and that didn't almost bankrupt the company responsible for it.
I don't think it makes much sense to invest all the resources to bring 1.0 back only for people to play it maybe a month and then go "Yep, I can see why this failed now." before never touching it again.
As someone that has always loved the final fantasy franchise,
I subbed to the original game for less than a month, and even then I barely logged in, would take ages to login as so many people had them boards in the city to sell stuff, never actually used the feature so assumed it was like a mobile auction house
Apart from main story, I think I just done leve quests, which low level were hard as it would be multiple mobs attacking, and targetting was a nightmare
Wow worked as a classic, as a lot of people had fond memories of it, even the weapon skill grinding
Rift sort of worked as a classic until the game seemed to die off
XIV just wouldn’t work, even if they had the manpower, I just can’t see anyone realistically wanting to play it, for more than a “oh so that’s what it was like” for a week, then stopped
Now if I had a final fantasy wish, it would be XI got the ARR treatment, that game had so much depth and stories, and beautiful zones, it’s a shame it’s just in maintenance mode
If they rebuilt it like ARR, they could easily have two leading MMOs under their belt
Just my opinion
No one is talking about the cool Dodo fight I linked =(
