Final fantasy xiv 1.23b server relaunch?

Now hear me out, before anyone says nightmare this, nightmare that....

What if Yoshi P launches a classic 1. 23b server, same battle system as it was back then, but with QoL systems in place (ex: auction house/market board, companions etc).

I feel like the 1.0 story... It deserves to be experienced. Like I know there are YouTube videos, but sometimes I really wish I can go through the story again. Die from that over powered monster outside gridania, fight monsters while hearing that killer battle theme! I dunno, wish there was a way to experience some of it to some extent.

Not to mention Yoshi himself already shot down that request long ago - it's impossible from a technical standpoint (something about SE completely deleted the underlying source code for 1.0 after it was shut down for the final time on December 31st 2012).

And as Lenneth said above, there actually is little to experience - much of 1.0's story has been redone as part of ARR's storyline anyway, and what hasn't has been already included, cannibalized or referenced has instead then been mostly decanonized or discarded, so there is very little that hasn't already been shown. I get it, 1.0 seems like a prequel to ARR (and it is in a way), but, speaking as a 1.0 player like Lenneth, you're not missing out on much, and there wouldn't be that much to play, frankly.

1.0 thoroughly deserved being taken back around behind the shed and being given two bullets behind the ear - it was a broken, unplayable mess that by 1.23 was passable and sort of playable, but still showed it's clay feet all too much. 1.0 is gone and is never coming back.

if they had the old code i would say yea go for it but without updates, make players who want to experience it pay a sub and SE gets free money for no effort.

i see no reason to give man power to 1.0 but i have nothing against allowing players to pay to experience the old game.

I mean, I wasn't there (obviously) but from what I understand it was something you really had to be there to experience at the time. I doubt a reworked classic server would have the same feel.
Not to mention that one of the most 'famous' elements of 1.0 was the way it was brought to a close, which is something that isn't really possible to recreate - at least, not in terms of the emotion and impact that demonstrably (as per various YouTube videos) came with that event.

I'd like to see it given a Crisis Core style treatment, as a single-player prequel, so the story can be experienced, but as an addition to the MMO? I don't think WoW Classic set a great precedent for this kind of thing, and that didn't almost bankrupt the company responsible for it.
