New to the game need Archer help.

Hi everyone, my name i go by is Ghost Ookami. I picked up FFXIV about 2 days ago with some of my friends and have been roaming around...oh gosh whats that towns name ..ill call it LL (stuff in this game can be hard to pronounce lol.) Anyways ive done some levequests outside the city and inside as well and so far got to lvl9. I decided i should look up some basic guides to focus me in the right direction for the Archer class.

But there seems to be a ton of guides out on google and some of them are very outdated being from 2010. And seeing as im a vet of many different MMOs i know games can change with every patch so i want to get the current up to date facts.

    1. What stats should i prioritize? Ive read a lot of different stats that contribute (Dex/Pie/STR/Vit/Crit/Acc ect ect) but its kind of...overbearing? i got some info from this forum guide on the front page here
    http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/t....18-and-Beyond
But this guide seems to be more for the higher level archers who know kind of what they are doing. And it doesnt quite tell me which stats to really focus on so i could use a bit of clarification. I assume Dex will be a major one but am not sure what else.

    2. Are there different types of armor (light/med/heavy)? No sure how the armor system works in this game yet. I assume i should go with armor that buffs the stats from question 1, if not please let me know.

    3. How many arrows can i hold in this quiver i have? How often should i activate the "refill quiver" skill.

    4. When do i start getting stat points? I just read about them a few minutes ago and thought "oh gees i better invest them" but when i go to "point allotment" it says i have zero? Im level 9 so when do i start getting them i guess.

    5. What is a good side job for archers? Should i focus on armor smithing orrrr...fishing...lol i have no idea!

I think thats all the questions i have at the moment, Any extra tips to playing this game or the archer class is greatly appreciated, seeing as i barely got my boots wet in the game so far.

    Thanks in advance
    -Ghost

    1. Dex/Pie are the main attributes that affect your damage, as far as secondary stats, any physical stats work, i just started archer so i don't know if they like crit or atk power builds. you'll need a certain level of accuracy though.

    2. yes their's essentially 3 tiers (cloth, leather, metal armors). I'm pretty sure Archers want leather and aren't capable of wearing the metal armors (again, just started archer, just kind of working off logic of what i've seen getting THM to 50).

    3. an entire stack (999 arrows)

    4. level 10

    5. I'd guess Leathworking for armor or carpentry for weapons. however as someone knew to FFXIV, you should probably know that professions are like a whole new class. This isn't like WoW or Rift or GW2 where you can maintain professions as a little thought of byproduct and keep it up with the needs of your main class. If you want to level DoL/H you have to focus on it like an actual class. If you've got the patience it won't matter, if you're like me, you'll end up hitting 50 on your archer with your highest gather/crafting classes around 20.

    (2) There aren't official levels of armor, but I'd say there are four, splitting metal into light (haubergeon set) and heavy (plate mail). And ARC can't wear either of them. An entire set at any level will generally be a mixture of WVR and LTW recipes. (3) Yes, 999, and the Refill ability is only there on the off chance you clear out a stack of 999 mid-fight as a convenience. It was more necessary when the max was 99. (5) Nearly every bow is a CRP recipe, and all arrows are CRP, so if you want gathering and crafting to support your ARC/BRD, go with CRP and BTN.
