Please, add more voice lines to the game in all duties and more

I would like to ask the developers to add more voice lines to the game and to all duties such as dungeons of all kind (MSQ, deep, variant/criterion...), Field Operations and their raids, trials, all normal and alliance raids as well as to the cutscenes of more relevant quests such as those related to normal and alliance raids and perhaps Field Operations, too.

Often, you will get into a dungeon where the NPCs provide a ton of written lines but you hear none of them, so it's very easy to not even notice what's going on.

An example would be Alzadaal's Legacy after the first boss, where the defense system sounds the alarm to summon defenses, yet in game all you hear is a little beep. It takes away from the experience. Yet for some reason we did get a random non-boss voice line near the end of the latest MSQ dungeon.

It was a huge loss not to have voiced a character like Hesperos, in my opinion. Delubrum Reginae would have also been way more enjoyable if the bosses had audio.

The normal and alliance raids have been more enjoyable lately precisely because of their voice acting. However, the quests associated with them were not voiced, which I find it odd. Yes, they normally don't put voice over in these but they should, especially considering that the actors are already working on the duty itself.

Another issue I see is how some lines are not voiced in encounters which are already voiced. Many trials are like this, such as Endsinger. If a boss says a line in chat, it should always be voiced.

Voice over increases the quality of the game and SE should try to make a bigger effort to improve it and make it more of a reality. They have the means to do it.

If you agree with this suggestion, please like and comment on the thread.

Would you like more voice lines added to duties or any other kind of content or area in the game and why?

Voiced content is expensive to make, and make development scheduling far less flexible.
Making "everything" voiced would mean less money spent on other things.

While it would be nice to have a lot more content voiced, it is highly unrealistic to expect it.

Well, with how good AI voices have become, it could be a solution :P

    I strongly agree with this.

I personally find it way more enjoyable when the duty is voiced. I particularly liked the latest Alliance raids because all bosses were voiced. It really adds to the experience, especially when we get in for the first time and discover the bosses' designs and what voices were chosen to match their personality etc.

I hope that we get more voiced duties in the future, whether it's in dungeons, trials, raids or even Ultimates (especially considering what the next Ultimate is going to be, it'd be awesome to have voices.. it'd be so sad if we don't get any).

It would also end up very generic. When I played ESO, there was lot in that that I found was voiced. But I also found myself hearing the same voices over and over and over again on different people. When someone is voiced here, they feel much more unique.

I'm ambivalent on this. Yes, of course I want more voiced content. I don't need it in literally every quest, but it certainly does makes the story more enjoyable and makes encounters cooler and more exciting. Can you imagine the Zenos fight without "A TEST OF YOUR REFLEXES"????

On the other hand, yeah it's expensive. It takes more time. You have to do it in every available language, and you have to do it RIGHT or else it actually has the opposite effect and harms the quality and perception of the game. There are a few voiced scenes at the end of Coils of Bahamut, and in my opinion they are absolutely pathetic and without a doubt the worst voice acting in the whole game.

Yeah, that's a Bethesda thing. They have literally every line of dialogue voiced in all the Elder Scrolls games (well, at least from Oblivion onward). It's a nice thing to have, but it does come with the cost of the player feeling like there's only like eight or so voices in the whole world that all NPCs share. I don't think FFXIV needs to go that far. They are getting pretty good at voicing a lot of the important MSQ moments, as well as select other scenes and battle moments. It feels like they're integrating more voice work with each expansion, to a reasonable degree. If every single NPC and quest dialogue were voiced though, it would be a disaster.

far too expensive and time consuming.

and helllz no to AI. you're taking away money from a voice actor who needs the paycheck.

We'd also lose some of those tells that someone isn't just going to be a throwaway character. When Erenville was voiced I remember thinking that this guy was going to come up again somewhere.

Oh yeah, I forgot about ultimates. Those definitely need voice acting! It's very sad that all ultimates except DSR are fully silent and the latter just re-uses previous audio from Heavensward. They will likely re-use the audio for the next ultimate and luckily they have a lot more to take from for that compared to DSR but it'd be really cool (and way more appropriate) if they added new lines!

I'd also like to emphasize the fact that this post doesn't mean to suggest having every piece of content with voice over. Obviously, that's impossible. I'm not asking for all quests to be voiced but I think we can agree that MSQ dungeons, normal and alliance raids and trials should at the very least always be voiced. Any other content besides that would be a very nice and welcome extra.

And the quests associated with normal and alliance raids should have some voiced cutscenes for the simple fact that they're related to the duty. Having the Thaleia cutscenes entirely silent made them less important, imho.

Like, we have G'raha Tia saying two random lines near the end of Thaelia yet he's been there within the raids before with us and it's only now that he has a voice line? The same could be said for Deryk, who's fully silent until the final raid.

Finally, if the voices end up being samey, then that would be SE's fault for not trying to diversify the cast more. For instance, most of the bosses in the new alliance raids or relevant characters such as Titania are voiced by main voice actors and actresses such as Y'shtola's or Estinien's. The voice acting is good so it's not that noticeable, but it could also be due to the fact that there's not that many voiced characters outside of the main cast.
