Alpha is by definition an internal staff only test, so it doesn't make sense that anyone would be in on alpha.
An alpha version is not yet feature-complete (with the features and bug fixes intended to be made available in the "final" release). A beta version is more or less feature complete (again, as far as what's intended for the release)
