Social Effect Crafting Legacy / Effect (Souls Message / Death Stranding Bridges)

Just had a thought tangential from seeing indirect cooperative systems like Souls games and messages or Death Stranding and the bridge network, and thought about crafting.

When a player completes content with crafted gear there is a chance* they will send thanks to the players who crafted their gear. Both players receive a nice message and short soothing sfx, and a minor non-bot encouraging gift.
The effect could play as a subtle shimmer and soft sound effect (that can be turned off entirely), chat message will be added that vaguely states how your tools have been put to good use / a person thinks kindly of you. To avoid it being too problematic I think a nice, yet fair / low issue, reward would be your gear repairs some %.

*Chance based on if it's the 'wearing' player's first time completed and difficulty of content (so like MSQ first time, high chance, savage+ also high chance, normal content middling chance). If it's not too server intensive, a backwards check if the crafting player has received thanks recently, which will also play part (so if you craft for half the server you're not drowned but conversely a person who crafts once in a while stands a fair chance to see it.. once in a while lol). Crafting and gathering gear would likewise be based on similar concepts, like first time you log an item, or difficulty vs your stats.

I really like those kind of social systems that sit under the surface to gently remind you of community.

Not necessary for the original idea but it could be neat to see a hall of record to view all the content the gear you've crafted has won victories (doesn't label the player, just the content). I'd avoid achievements unless they're more reasonable to obtain than some more extreme ones (system is meant to be cute, not be "SOMEONE BEAT SOMETHING, I NEED ALL THE ULTIMATES" lol).

Minor I know, but still thought it potentially cute. I know when I get an upvote in Souls games, even when I don't need the healing, or when I upvote someone else, I just feel good about it.

    Thanks for reading

Honestly, that sounds annoying to me. I don't need to know what random players who just happened to purchase something I made are doing. If they're friends, I probably already know what they're doing without needing the message.

Hence I said you could turn it off lol. That and it would be rate controlled so you don't get hit with 50 messages a day which would also be silly. I liked knowing when people used my stuff in the two example games, but I can imagine some people didn't.

It is honestly pretty minor in the scope of things (maybe more accurate to say very minor lol), but I always liked the constant undertones that a system like these could bring. Silently a whisper of 'in it together' without having to be like "if your buddy fails this you fail the content".

How about a counter suggestion, what if the fellowship system had some behind the scene systems akin to this?

That would be a question better directed to those who are using the Fellowship system. I'm not using it because linkshells are far more useful to my game play.

It seems like alot to keep track of items, who wore them, what content they finished doing them, going back to the crafter and rewarding them, I doubt it's feasible to implement.

I can only speak for myself and say I don't care much for what people do with the items I craft- if anything I'd love to remove my signature from it because at the end of the day, someone buying raid food/pots is probably going to definitely make use of them, be it for progging, using in casual content, or even reselling, I gain gil from it and that's reward enough.

I can't speak for death stranding since I haven't played it but I played Bloodborne and it is my favorite souls game aesthetic wise, the system of leaving messages is really interesting because it circumvents the lack of chat box, it creates an illusion of the 'multiplayer' while you're exploring- be it people leaving tips, simping statues, or just trolling. It works for that game.

While the concept is cute, I don't think it'll work well in a MMO. I guess you made me look at the stuff I craft in abit of an endearing way, I never thought much of it but I'd like to think someone out there is making good use of the food/pots I made which is kinda nice. Thanks!
