Did solution 9 reveal like a jump the shark moment yesterday?

The presentation last night went allright up to the moment when yoshi p presented solution 9...it just felt so awkward and out of place. I don't know. It just felt like a jumping the shark moment for me. The beastmaster reveal saved the presentation for me though, I'm excited for that job, even though it's a limited one!

How did you all feel about solution 9...? Was it exciting for you, did it feel odd and out of place?

It did take my out of the moment when they showed it off.

Depending on what it is/how it's handled, it might be a shark jump imo. All depends on what the explanation is for this seemingly very advanced civilization, what it is doing in the New World and how it has interacted with the world.

Yes, very much so. That being said, there are already so many odd, out of place things in this game that start to break the world if I think about them too hard.

I will also reserve a full judgement until I have more context than a 40 second youtube video. Maybe it will make sense later.

Here’s something to think about. In the real world, we have cities like Tokyo which aren’t far off from Solution Nine as well as small rural towns, tiny villages in places like mountains, jungles, etc. and everything in-between. Depending on the context of what Solution Nine ends up being, I think it could be fine.

This type of technological divide also isn’t new to Final Fantasy either. Esther from FF8 is one such example. The empire from FF6 is very different than the random medieval villages that sprawl the majority of other locations in that world. Compare Archades from FF12 to the nomad village, or Eruyt Village.

its the best looking area in the game so far, i am super excited, its as out of place as dragons or ascian gods who hate the world because they aren't the kings of it anymore and want everyone dead and below them.

i hate the idea that the game has to be limited in its technology and can't go out of its way, i also feel that way about anything, anything added can be added and make sense limiting what we can bring to FF14 will only limit that and i thought players hated the games limitations.

less ranty explaination anything is possible because its more fun that way, i dont want to say well we cant have this aesthetic or this theme because it will never fit in the game. i think we should either find creative solutions to make it fit or over look certain detail to not limit the game or us players.

Our dark fantasy epic dealing with a 1000 year long dragon war ended in a sci-fi research laboratory on some floating islands covered in robots and mutated creatures.

Our trip to the First ended in a gigantic city with skyscrapers at the bottom of the ocean.

Endwalker gave us the Moon, a completely separate thousands of years old research facility on floating islands via time travel this time, and an area formed by thoughts and emotions at the very edge of the universe.


Considering what we've had before, the idea that there's a cyberpunk city on the opposite side of the world isn't that farfetched. The Garleans had modern skyscrapers, cars, trains, highways, radio, etc. as well.

Feels very Allagan, but without the jarring and garish colors typical of places like Azys Lla. Not really out of place to me.
