I can't find the fun in this game any more

Honestly, the mistake you're making isn't that you're criticizing, or that you disagree with the direction of the game, those are pretty rational actions depending on what you're looking for in an experience, especially if those features are no longer being provided.

The issue is that if you're looking for a reason to be excited, you've already lost. For someone like you, the best thing would be to be as stoic and neutral as possible. As someone who absolutely despises almost everything about Endwalker from story to gameplay to content design, I am well aware that the odds of things changing from one expansion to the next are marginal at best with this current trajectory, there's no reason to. So expect the worst, and hope for nothing. That way, if things do change, AWESOME. If they don't, you aren't surprised. Minimal to zero investment is key, and you have the bonus points of it being the healthiest option in the grand scheme of things.

Regardless, no matter how much you want it, we are never going back home. That's just the way it is, and at best, we're getting Shadowbringers 3, with the same lack of shake ups to the core gameplay experience, if that's something you care about. I even broke my own rules by saying, "Oh, Solution Nine looks interesting, surely there will be interesting new characters and a great culture to expand on." before I remembered I might be disappointed if I even humor that idea. So I threw it away.

Like, if the expansion is as mid as this one is for me, I'll just go back to playing Monster Hunter, a series that actually cares about the gameplay experience of it's fans, it's not like my friends are coming back and that I'm chained down or anything. It's not that big of a deal.
