So no more pet jobs, eh?

Was there a notices I missed somewhere? I remember being confused when they took Smn's and Sch's pet versatility away, and downright baffled when they just took Summoner's whole Summoning thing away entirely. Now we're getting BST, but only as a Limited Job?
If that's the case, I'd rather not get jobs like Puppetmaster or Necromancer. If they wind up not being pet command jobs, but instead just casters with themed animations like Smn, they're no different than the "Necromancer" they got in Elder Scrolls: Online.
I don't understand their aversion to command pet jobs. We've had them in games as far back as at least Everquest, they still exist in WoW, City of Heroes/Villains, Final Fantasy XI, and in XIV so far we've got a promise of a Beastmaster that will get as much support as the highly isolated Blue Mage, which is its own frustration.
I just don't get it.

My bet is that BST will work like SMN does, with beasts basically being abilities you can use rather than real summon.
Honestly, just one look at how 'great' pet AI of old SMN was and even how the SCH fairy was before EW should show why they're averse to the idea. They are inconsistent and unreliable.

2 Ideas come to mind. Either the devs dont know how to balance the game around pet jobs in FF14 or the game is not able to handle the Pet job A.I. like they want. (Consider whether consoles(Ps4) can handle whatever the devs want with pet jobs.)

They do, Reaper has the best pet, because it's only visually a pet.
Gameplay wise the damages comes from you.

Considering the many issues with pets as simple as Living Shadow/Automaton Queen, I can garantee you you don't want pets.

AQ initial targeting was fixed but it still suck when dealing with multiple targets. You can see those problem in the second EX trial of EW or in POTD.
As long as it focuses on a single target, everything is good.

The biggest problem is that the AQ is a glorified dot. If you replaced it with an attack that dealt a dot, you would have the exact same result but visually different.

Don't make it to be what it's not: it's not a pet, it's just a visual. I want real pets but given how they've destroyed the fairy as an entity it was to expected.




Really disappointed that beast master is a limited job, and that it's not a real pet one. Basically doa if it's anything like blue mage.

First, don't be smarmy, you know darn well reaper isn't a pet.

Second, I was there at the dawn of pet classes in MMOs. I know jank, and XIVs were not that. They worked fine, minor issues aside. They just threw the baby out with the bathwater.

Finally, do NOT tell other people what they do or do not want. It's asinine. I loved my summoner and I very much want it back regardless of what people like you have to say.
