Can't log into the game

I'm using a PC and on Steam. I just reupped my sub. I try to log in and usually go to a black screen and then it stops. On the rare occasion that I get to character select, It shuts down after I hit play. I have played many times over the years and never had this problem. Here are my system specs:

The FF14 game client sometimes has issues when ran from the non-OS drive, which can sometimes cause crashes.
Try installing the game on your C drive and see if that helps.

What can also help is to install it on the C drive and then move it to the desired position on a non-C drive. But you should not install it on a non-C drive directly. Yes, it is weird but it is what it is.
