    It made sense to role-restrict them in Stormblood because people were using HW DPS accessories, resulting in tanks having less vitality.

    But now, if tanks used slaying accessories, they would have the same Vitality and the same Strength and the same mitigation due to the stat changes in 5.0. The only thing they would lose is Tenacity (which they avoid anyway).
    It was also in place so people don't use accessories with different primary stats in order to boost their item level. Can remember back in HW when someone ranted about being kicked out of the group as a bard, only to be found out they used tanking accessories to get into Xephatol faster. This kept leading into literal witchhunts and throwing people out of groups when they used pieces outside their main spec.

    Honestly, gear kinda already does that. All gear is Vit, Main Stat, Maxed Secondary Stat 1, Half Full Secondary Stat 2. Its been like this since day one, and with gear being so restrictive already, they ought to just get rid of all of the stats on gear and do as you say.

    Looking something like:
    Item Name
    Item Level (The higher your Average iLvl is, the more HP, Damage, and Healing you do.)
    Role Required
    Level Required

    Well... no.. because artifact gear would still be a thing, but for role based gear dragoons already share their gear design with tanks so theres hardly any difference really. Plus they could still just dump out glam gear exclusive to jobs if they wanted to. Less and simple in one place could lead to more of another, big "COULD" though...

    While they're at it, they should just release 1 set of gear that everyone can use and have defense and magic defense adjusted by traits.

    There is a big difference between getting tank reskins and getting nothing but tunics, besides the one AF set every expansion. Yes they could add more gear as glams but do we have any evidence that they would? Jobs released after Stormblood got only the bare minimum of weapon glamours.
