    do status potions still work?

    Hewwo again! ^w^
Today I binged making potions. I made spine drops, echo drops, antidotes, and eye drops. I also bought the strongest possible potions (not level 90 alc yet but getting there) because I have been in more than one situation where the healer has prematurely died and no one had rez. While these won't save me from the wrath of a boss, it does keep me alive for a bit at least (especially useful if there is a tiny bit of health left. For example, it kept me alive long enough to finish off the final boss of a dungeon). While making those potions I did wonder: do potent potions work- such as potent poison? Do they work at higher levels still or did they become irrelevant to newer content? Would a silencing potion work on trash mobs in level 80 to 90 dungeons?

Status cleaning potions still work when the status in question is cleansable. None of the poison items work on enemies past level 50, those items were abandoned in favor of stat boosters.

It's more of a FFXI habit, but I still always carry spine drops and echo drops for the few times they're allowed. Mostly that's zone and leveling content, things tend to be immune to cleanse items in level cap stuff.

Spine drops and echo drops are more for stuff like Deep Dungeons, where you may need it to remove a debilitating debuff. I think poison potions pretty much fall out of favor after lv 50.

Antidotes, Eye Drops, Echo Drops and Spine Drops do all still work, but as noted to cure a status it needs to be curable which is noted by having the white line on at the bottom of the debuff icon.

And of those 4 items, Spine Drops are probably the most useful as Paralysis can be very annoying. I think the only one that could come close is if they updated Antidotes to work on any curable DoT effect rather than just poison.

I always carry Spine Drops and have them on a hotbar for every job. Same with Echo Drops for casters, I just find losing control or access to actions really annoying.

Poison (at least that kind that antidotes can heal) always seems weak and you can just heal it or wait it out, and I haven’t really noticed blindness lasting long or having a major gameplay-altering effect, so I don’t bother with those.

No potion is required and is all just personal preference.

I always have a stack of 500 each of them at all times. Sure it's rare that you use them but I like being able to get back to what I'm doing. It's mainly lvl50 content that debuffs you but if I am a caster I 100% don't want to deal with the 10s silence in Sycus or as a Melee ever deal with Paralysis. Gold Needles can cure others of petrify which helps with the 20s petrify in LotA.

Whilst these are rare things for the sake of a few inventory slots I'd rather just have them.

Hi-Potions and Max Potions are great for low level content especially when dealing with newer players who struggle healing. They can also be used when Tanking to grab add spawns without moving the boss. Like a budget Equilibrium. It's my main use for them. I highly recommend these, especially the Hi-Potions. It's a free cure 1 in low level with a measly 22s cooldown.

Finally Hyper-Potions are just a 67s heal for around 10-25% of your hp. When not using damage pots I'd run these.

Just the cleansing ones retain their usefulness. I always have spine drops on hand because I think some healers are allergic to Esuna and echo drops because inevitably someone doesn't stun the silencing mob when I'm healing.
