Anyway now that you are here reading this. One thing I would like it if they did it is for them to give npcs in the older parts of the game (mostly ARR and HW) an updated look in what they wear. Many times you will have a quest or a cutscene and have someone who is well off or highly rich wearing the same outfits someone who has less money or extremely poor. Now I know this complaint is highly niche and I also don't expect them to ever do this. It's just something that has bothered me my whole 10yrs of playing the game. I also understand that they probably would have done this if they had some of the outfits they put in at later expansions and now back then.

Yet unless they have a unique outfit you can't tell very easily which Ul'dah citizen has money and who doesn't when they're wearing the same turban and Hempen top. Or they're both wearing the same Oasis outfit. Same goes for the other starter cities. You start seeing some difference in Heavensward as you wouldn't want to dress a Filthy Rat of a street urchin in the same as someone akin to Honoroit. Or a member of one of the high houses.

Some logic for wearing those though is that Thanalan is the hot, desert area and they want what they wear to allow a lot of air onto them, whilst still protecting their skin from sunburn.

But yes, they were probably rushing and re-using assets from 1.0 a lot as well because making new gear for each character would be a lot in their already-ambitious deadline.

How high on the list of these proofing priorities prettifying old NPCs would be - I have no hecking idea.

I understand why logically speaking those living in Thanalan or La Noscea might want to wear certain cloths vs others. That and you can't really show a higher stich count with how the game is. I would also be fine if they chose not to switch out their outfits but gave color coded them. Have those who have money to flaunt be in colors that (at least in our world) would be the more expensive dyes. For example royal blue, most greens, most purples, jewel tones. Just something that would tell anyone just by looking at them that they're not a poor person who spends most of their day looking beginning for work on Pearl Lane vs Yellow Moon who spends all day wondering what new article of clothing she'll ask Redolent Rose to make.

Probably very low and not even on any of the devs radar. It's why I said I know it's very niche and something that will probably never happen. Unless one of them feels bad that all of the newer npcs have more variations and distinction between the rich and the poor. Just look at the kids in all of the more recent seasonal events. Where we went from oh look everyone is wearing flower sacks as clothing to oh look they might look the same but one has lace. Or wearing a child sized version of the whisperfine woolen coat or whatever.

Related pet peeve of mine and equally bottom tier priority for the devs but would make me happy: Doman Refugees in ARR get SB clothing instead of the Doman symbol on the back of the 1.0 era tunics. And the flashback Voeburtine NPCs using the correct dungeon gear - Branden’s flashback still disappoints me.
