Essential QOL changes for Dawntrail

Ability to be in more than one FC. It sucks when friends move around and you cant join them in at least 2 or 3 FC's.

Ability to make more chat tabs.

Ability to move stuff between alts. I know we cant due to RMT concerns, but I think there should be some facility there.

Make hall of the novice mandatory, and force job quests at around level 30. I also think job quests should teach basic rotations, not just for "bad players", but even I find it irritating having to look up rotations every 10 levels.

Clean up tiered abilities that essentially obsolete themselves (i.e. cure 1 > cure 2).

Improve PF so all the clubs and things get their own dedicated section that we can filter out. I also think a "looking for party" tool would be useful, so if you want to do something like coils sync, you can advertise it in PF over time to create groups in advance.

Tell us if we have crafting mats in storage on the crafting window.

Good point! Some "Guest" status for FCs would rock, so you can have ppl join your chat etc... and the hall is long since overdue - im sick of ppl not even having that free gear.

And we definitely could use some more upgrades on skills or cut down all the "this skills shares its CD with xyz" stuff - this is bloat. id rather have an extra skill then aoe and normal versions of the same skill...

MHiceborn added the clutchclaw that wasnt in MHW and it didnt feel like it wasnt enjoyable without it. it made sense in progrression.

Not going to really engage with most of this but...the clutchclaw is a TERRIBLE example. The clutchclaw basically removed difficulty from MH World almost entirely. Your weapon keeps bouncing off the tough hide of a monster? Clutchclaw > Tenderize > No more bouncing. Even though for some monsters, having tough hide areas was part of their fight mechanics. Also all hits to the tenderized sections are basically mini crits. So people would just tenderize the whole monster.

Monster moving way too much for your liking? Clutchclaw > Aim monster at wall > Burst shot to make them run into the wall and fall over giving hunters about 15 seconds of free damage on said monster. And if you had a smart group, you could abuse the clutchclaw in conjunction with any and all options to inflict KO status to keep the monster flailing on the ground indefinitely. So if you tenderized the whole monster, and abused knock down, which was super easy to do! You basically had a monster that took nothing but mini crits and was completely incapable of defending itself.

The clutchclaw took the hunter's overall power in World, and shot it through the roof. Like, it made Velkhana, a monster they kept hyping up in the story as a terrifyingly powerful monster...an utter cakewalk of a fight. And I sorta remember tenderizing also making Shara utterly piss easy. This is why things like Alatreon and Fatalis needed to rely on cheap gimmicks, DPS checks, and heavily overtuned damage to give the hunters any form of a challenge. Alatreon's DPS check on release basically invalidated not only entire playstyles and build styles, but made it so entire weapon classes could not participate in the fight. Like, literally, even if you brought the right elemental greatsword to the fight, GS were so slow they could not meet the DPS check. And reminder, if you did not meet the DPS check...it was a wipe and you instantly fail the mission. They had to add special elemental modifiers to slower weapons in order to allow them to clear Alatreon's DPS check. Which just goes completely against a core tenant of the series' design philosophy for years and years. You could clear any fight with any weapon. Just some took longer than others. But World's Alatreon fight spat in the face of this. And this was all in response to how ridiculously powerful the clutchclaw made the hunter.

It also needs to be heavily emphasized how only Iceborne was really balanced around the clutchclaw, and I am using the word balance very loosely here. Some monsters in iceborne, you could just ignore it but others demanded you use tenderize and wall bang as much as possible. But the entire base game was not designed to deal with something like the clutchclaw. So what ARE supposed to be difficult fights (At least by World's standards...) like Bazel or Nergigante, are trivialized. Tenderize also allowed you to just straight up ignore some core mechanics of monsters. Like Kirin's enrage armor. When enraged, Kirin's body will bounce off all attacks save for strikes to the head. Because you are supposed to break its horn. (There were others ways to dispel the armor without horn breaking as well.) but the clutchclaw just let you grapple Kirin, tenderize, and go right back to hitting its body while also doing even more damage to it. Rendering what has been a core mechanic of Kirin for ages, completely ignorable. This is...not a good thing.

Adding a clutchclaw equivalent, a 'progression' mechanic or something, would require them to either make it exclusive to DT and beyond, or go back and retune EVERYTHING to take this thing into account. And neither of these options sound appealing. On one hand, it becomes yet another thing we lose when synced down in any capacity, which is already ultra frustrating right now. But having it vanish any time you sync down is just gonna make folks resent lower level content even further. And the other option just sounds like an enormous waste of dev time.

I've played this game since pa2 in 2004 and honestly I think parts bouncing ur weapon off being a mecanic is a bad faith argument cause in mhfu ud just gem in the no bounce skill for white fatalis anyway. Ppl got around it so it was pointless to put it in as a mecanic. I found the claw helpful for getting on bigger monsters like shara ishvala and saphijiva/enojiva I normally couldn't hit without a gun

Also it's a lil inconsistent when you say 1 minute it's op and nerfs the game but next u say it was designed for u to use it. Personally I never thought clutch was crutchclaw but maybe I'd just recommend mhfu for you if you enjoy it when it was harder

Ironically the wire bugs put me right off rise and I quit after trying them. Kiting monsters into other monsters just felt like to far for me

Meaning all rise ever was was something to play while world is dead

Fair, it varies from person to person. But clutchclaw, least for me and a lot of my hunting buddies, took a fight that was being hyped up by the story and trivialized it. It wasn't so much it nerfed Velkhana, but that it overall gave you way too much advantage over them.

That's not a bad faith argument. Because you overall give an example that shows WHY tenderize letting you ignore hide bounce is a problem. You had to slot gems or skills in order to gain that ability. You had to use resources and give up slots for the ability. Clutchclaw does not have this requirement, it's free. It is the default for it and that's a pretty powerful default.

Because that is its purpose there. Those fights were designed with you using the clutchclaw as much as possible.

Except as RitsukoSonoda pointed out. There's not an inconsistency, just that Iceborne's fights were designed and balanced with the clutchclaw in mind, this is also why a lot of monsters are either fat damage sponges, ultra fast and twitchy, or both. But the fights back in BASE World, are NOT designed with the clutchclaw in mind and the clutchclaw utterly trivialized the base game. It's OP as fuck in the base game, while its performance in Iceborne is manageable due to a lot of fights in Iceborne being balanced around it. That's not inconsistency, that's just acknowledging an imbalance.

This also has nothing to do with me wanting MH to just be hard for the sake of hard. I had my fill of MHFU or Port3rd, or any of the DS entries. I enjoy world quite a bit, and that's actually WHY the clutchclaw was such a sore spot. It messed with a great game, despite it being on the easier side, it was still top tier due to the excellent advancements in overall gameplay with the monsters. And the clutchclaw just sorta...trivialized it and warped entire parts of the expansion around it. I don't want HARD monster hunter, I want FUN monster hunter. And MH is fun when it asks you to actually study your mark, learn their weak spots, figure out their movesets and put that all together to take down a big monster. Clutchclaw took that and tossed it into the dumpster. Tenderize lets you turn the entire monster into a weak spot and wall bang, especially with a coordinated team, took the monster's moveset out of the equation. Like, despite my issues with Alatreon's fight, in gameplay it is overall a fantastic fight bogged down by a terrible design choice. But look past that choice and you'll see he is quite a well done fight. His hitbox is damn near perfect, his moveset is challenging but fair, and he punishes greed in a very fair manner. You have to study and learn his fights and habits, and that's what I love. It's just the DPS check is stupid and antithetical to the series as a whole.

The issue is that the clutchclaw is a terrible example of an expansion adding a new never before seen toy. Because it really did just break the game and warp parts of its design entirely around it. And if FFXIV added an equivalent of some sort, they would need to either make it exclusive to DT and beyond or retune the entire game to take this new toy into account.

Folks aren't really going to voice grumbles in game. But overall, people did draw a lot of issue with clutchclaw. Cause it just broke the base game while warping a lot IB's fight design around it. It gave too much advantage, for free. That was overall the biggest issue I had with it. And a lot of vets I know, say the same. Just too much free advantage.

That's because Capcom has been doing a massive "Come back to play MHW!" campaign. And the campaign worked. Has nothing to really do with Rise, just Capcom wanting people to play World, likely cause Wilds is gonna be like World.

Also, I can't really hate World, cause it gave my good boy Zinogre an absolute BANGER of a remix to his already amazing theme.

2) My Dots

on a monster. I don't care a single bit about anyone else's damage on the monster but those 2 things are VITAL pieces of information.

This is a great example of a true QoL update. The impact is minor, but very much appreciated. It would be very easy for the developers to implement.

This is not. Sure, it would be nice, but it's like removing a tree so you can expand your driveway.
