    2) Many people say that journalists are only accurate when they're saying good things about the game, since the good things are facts and the bad things are not. If a journo says something negative, then he or she is only doing it for clicks and page views.

    3) Everyone generally agrees that Dawntrail will bring a ton of people back. There will be massive login queues and the game will be massively popular.

Keep in mind that we are in a designated "play other games" period. Yoshi-P even assigned us games that He wants us to play instead of FFXIV. Did you beat all of them? If not, you are not upholding His will and doing as He instructed. FFXIV is the "play other games" game where, during the officially designated period, you shall not play. Except you should, because there's an unlimited amount of things to do, and if you don't play, we will see you tomorrow you troll. Does that make sense?

People dont hate steamcharts their just smart enough not to rely it alone as proof. Coming to a conclusion using just steamcharts alone is fool hearted.

-The Steam data, as always, ends up supporting the growth of FFXIV when you make logical comparisons. For example, Patch 5.5 (pre-WoW exodus) launched in April 2021. The corresponding Patch 6.5 launched in October 2023. Yep - several thousand more active Steam players at the EW data point than the relevant ShB one. And that's been the pattern throughout the years. Similar points in each successive expansion show steady growth ARR --> HW --> SB --> ShB --> EW. The cycles also remain reliably regular, with the "low" point for each expansion typically occurring between the .5 patch and the immediate run-up to the next expansion's release.

-I haven't seen any reasonable person claim that the "WoW exodus" was anything but an anomaly. The two MMO's are very different games focused on different audiences, and many people went to FFXIV from WoW not because of FFXIV itself, but to "get away" from WoW and Blizzard. It was never feasible to expect more than a small handful of that group to actually stay here, nor would it have been a sensible business approach to radically alter FFXIV just to try catering to that group. I also haven't seen any "negative press" about FFXIV recently (or at least none worth the proverbial paper it's printed on). Doomsaying is just really old at this point, especially when all of the actual data shows the game continues growing.

Sorry this had to happen. The FFXIV community can be horrible at times, and I don't blame you. Best of luck to you wherever you go.

The Legends of the Titanmen lives on, a shining example of the power of compassion and the ability of people to make a difference in the world. A reminder that even in the darkest of times, there is always hope, as long as there are heroes like the Titanmen who dare to do good deeds in Eorzea.

    ?

that article does not mention gameplay, just microtransactions..... And looking at reddit and steam reviews a lot of people enjoyed the gameplay and hated the campaign of course there's bound to be a negative review here and there but... I don't understand how this relates at all. Not alot of people are mentioning difficulty other than actually... enjoying it.... I see some complaint about some stuff being grindy in reddit but the consensus is the campaign sucked....

So no, I didnt get my opinion from a single source but several. Where are you seeing people quit Destiny 2 because it was too hard? I am not seeing a single comment saying this.

    https://www.reddit.com/r/DestinyTheG...ative_reviews/

"People were disappointed in the storytelling from the main campaign, I think - don't expect the narrative to make much sense. The tone, pacing, characterisation and and exposition are all off.

That and a lot of big, controversial, changes to the game were pushed at the same time, together with a lot of reskins and reissues of existing gear, and not much in the way of actual new content such as Strikes and maps.

Both of these things led many players to assume that this is a "filler" expansion, that feels very hastily cobbled together with a low budget.

EDIT: I should mention storytelling aside I did enjoy playing through the campaign missions on Legend difficulty, save two key bits towards the end which felt unfortunately overtuned unless you force yourself to use and learn an un-kitted version of the new Strand subclass (which is actually killer once you fully unlock it)."

I don't play destiny but I can only imagine legend difficulty is one of the harder modes.

And it's honestly why it's so hard to take these forums seriously, the amount of hyperbole in discussions is to the extreme. Asking for things fixed or liking the way things are becomes a matter of "so you want the game to clear itself for you?", or "so you just want it for free?"
No, I don't think this needs to be said, but you cannot complete the game by not using any actions. You will die, and the NPCs will also die and wipe trying to bring you back depending on your job. The game doesn't play itself and it's such a ridiculous concept to even throw that out, that it feels silly to even have to address it.
Why are you so angry? You don't have to start insulting people. I just stated that if you perform minimal movements, you can do almost anything in the game. You don't need to put in any effort in casual content, and you individually do not matter, which is exactly what the OP is complaining about. I wouldn't say something like that if I couldn't back it up, it's not hyperbole.

As Boblawblah requested, here's Dead Ends. I unbound all my job actions except cheer emotes, and didn't move anymore than I thought was absolutely needed to avoid overlapping. I was vacuming my office at the same time, so apologies if some of my decisions aren't exactly as you may want them for someone who completed Dead Ends while being as inconsequential as possible. Shoutout to my brother Urianger with a death action that just removes an enemy from mob packs. It only took 40 minutes, I've had actual nightmare dungeons go longer than that with real people.

Also, I happen to be a Destiny 2 enjoyer on the side, been playing since the very start of D1 Alpha. As a long-term player of both games, it's really a shame that they both are in some of worst states I've ever seen them in at the same time, but I assure you that it's not because Destiny is "unfun" to play because people can't use special weapons on orange bars in Neomuna. The gameplay and potential in Destiny is literally the only thing that keeps it relevant. What's actually killing Destiny is the massive amounts of layoffs at studio, including long-term employees and it's main composers, in order to meet a profit margin projected by out of touch and unpunished senior management. This is straight from the studio. Morale is in the toilet. The monetization, seasonal models, and C-Suite of Destiny is what is choking the life out of it, but the actual act of playing the game remains engaging after a decade because Bungie constantly takes risks in the sandbox and they sometimes listen to fans if they're allowed to.

Please do not speak about what the downfall is of a game you've never played and can't even be bothered to research just because it fits your narrative, Striker. I personally don't care about D2 too much these days, but I do care about the people behind it, and it's outright insulting to the laid off employees, and the many more there will be after the Final Shape expansion wraps up much of the story, underperforms like the last two have based on the overinflated projections of management, and a significant portion of long term fans say farewell to the IP, as Bungie's board and remaining assets are absorbed by Sony, per their contract after the acquisition earlier this year.

Honestly I don't know why you marked it as unlisted. The world should see that. And it should be titled:

FFXIV - STATE OF GAMEPLAY 2023

    Make sure to include:
