We all know that FFXIV's story is very good but it takes a long time to get good. ARR and STB are a huge wall for a lot people thanks to their slow build-up and their uninteresting fetch quests, making some players want to skip them, which is generally not advised. It's nearly impossible to solve this problem inside the game in its current state, however one thing they could do is release a short anime series summarizing all the important plot points of ARR and beyond. People that find themselves stuck in the MSQ will have an alternative and can waste only a few hours instead of dozens. Not only that, the anime would be a good advertisement. Non-FFXIV players that watch the anime may be interested in playing the game. Square already did something like this with FFXV, so I don't think it's impossible for them to do this.
Final Fantasy Unlimited.
Final fantasy advent children
Kingsglaive
Dad of light
So why we need a anime based on ffxiv?
Yes please pump more money into everything except the game itself!!
NO.
I feel like an FFXIV anime would not be made in the greatest quality. Lot of arcs and fight scenes would be rushed, and we'd just basically watch an animated montage of the Scions being good buddies made better or worse depending on how many episodes we'd be given to cover 5 - 6 expansions worth of material. Things would absolutely get retconned or skipped entirely for the anime's sake and we'd probably still end up with random filler episodes that don't tie into the game in any way. The anime would also probably age poorly as new expansion material continues previous material continuations which the anime might not set up very well. Additionally, things like animes tend to play into head canons like "shipping", that otherwise aren't a role in game's story. So, we end up with game canon and anime canon.

Eh..with how anime FFVII has become, and how cringe I find it now (maybe it's an age thing?), I want the other Final Fantasies to stay as far away from anime as possible.
I think an anime adaptation of the story would be a bad idea in general, not to mention would force them to try to make a more fleshed out canonical Warrior of Light as I don't think a silent protagonist can really work in non-interactive media.I feel like an FFXIV anime would not be made in the greatest quality. But the entire universe doesn't need to revolve around the WoL, I'm sure they could come up with stories that doesn't actually involve them in any way.
I wouldn't mind them making an anime series that just takes place in the world of FFXIV, rather than trying to turn the game into an anime.

I'd like an anime showing 2.0(or 1.0) thru EW. I already played it, obviously, but I almost always enjoy seeing the characters more. A big bit of the game's appeal to me is the story and how it feels almost like a TV show you are participating in, sometimes. Lord knows there have been a fair share of "anime moments" in the game over the years, both epic and silly. lol
I don't know if it'd be particularly cost effective as an aid for people looking to skip the story straight in to DT, though. Seems like a recap video (series) could do that better.
Or just a prompt to read the Unending Codex. Pretty sure that's what its for. Its a reference book for people who skip but end up caring enough to look; while secondarily maybe providing a bit of insight for people who lived it and always cared.
