I know there are many on this forum who would like to downplay or flat out deny that the games current formula is killing the game, but while pc gamer does not have the best reputation, having read this article over, i feel it actually echoes many of the issues ive had with this game ever since patch 5.5.

ive played now for 4 years this january. i think ive been around for a while, and long enough at least to see endwalker/shb doing there thing. Ive noticed so many drops in quality, from the design on the boss and savage fights, to even effort in the msq.. effort in new clothing. effort even in music with almost all endwalker bosses sharing a theme or borrowing right out of ff4. I dont know about shb.. yes the weapons were taken from ff7... but they allways felt original somehow.. yet the 4 fiends and 2 bosses.. didnt feel original at all really.. zeromus wasnt even anything more than a homage. his attack is even called nostalgia.

the combat system has also been neutered in exchange for making things easier. straying more and more away from tradition ff jobs like time mage, geomancer and corsair as we edge towards these "original" jobs that feel.. honestly.. out of place. reaper i feel only worked because the lore supported it so well.. however. yes. the job feels out of place

I feel aswell with mods, that it continues to be the case that somebody else gets shot so that everybody else gets yoshiP to impliment that mod into the game... making players essentially feel disposable or like infintry men deing for a good cause...

i can only hope with this article.. that it will return to CBU3's attention and that they will actually adress this.. if they can. otherwise. and this is sad. but all those suggesting to just "quit and leave" may find this game lonley and barren for the worst. because honestly. i dont really understand why telling loyal players to just "leave" whenever they try to criticise the game for improvments is good for the game in any way.

for now its just another day of hope that dawntrail will be better

And here I thought people were criticizing the developers for not improving the game. Now it turns out they're being criticized for improving it.

I skimmed the article but didn't read it fully. Seemed like she was complaining about how SE continues to use the same content release formula and wants them to change it because she's bored, then tossed in a few community memes in an attempt to gain credibility.

I feel like all I needed to know about the author was included in the profile at the end. "When she's not staring at her bunny girl, she can be found sweating out rhythm games, pretending to be good at fighting games or spending far too much money at her local arcade. " In other words, she doesn't really play the game. She just logs in to stare at her Viera for whatever reason.

I'll repeat what I've said many times before. If you're not longer enjoying the game, take your money elsewhere. Blizzard didn't pay attention to what players had to say until WoW players took their money elsewhere, or stopped playing modern retail to play Classic instead.

SE will not behave any differently. As long as FFXIV is not falling massively short of whatever revenue goals they've set for the game, they're going to stick with a formula that is making money for them. When it stops making money, that's when they'll think about change.

This article doesn't go into nearly as much depth as it could. It briefly touches on the absence of exploratory zones and the problems with criterion's reward structure, while barely getting into the formulaic rollout and that's about it. From how people in this thread were reacting, (attacking the source instead of just reading the thing and discussing what is being said) I thought the article was gonna call out the lackluster alliance raids, the samey jobs, the sorta lukewarm way their 10 year story was resolved and the post-story that lost a lot of people and ultimately felt like filler, etc etc etc but instead they sorta gently touched on a couple of new features that could use some improvements going forward and of course that's all it takes for the fanboys here to lose their mind.

Going off the first reply, and a reply I saw earlier where someone who asked what they should do in the game was told to just google it, it legit seems like there's a certain camp that just wants to use these forums as a kind of offtopic hub for talking about coffee or spamming emotes at each other.

ill agree that the current content cycle sucks and makes me not want to ever sub again, but i dont think games journalists have any room to talk, they are outrage baiting, fake gamers, using the platform to further their carrier with no love for the genera..

It's true that FFXIV's pattern in the expac/patch cycle is very much predictable. You'll know exactly what you're getting when.

However, shaking things up just for the sake of shaking things up isn't always a good thing, and the grass isn't always greener on the other side of the fence.
