    The Sunken Temple of Qarn (Hard) Endboss Question

    I did a run synced on bluemage and unsynced on ninja in that dungeon.

    There is the mechanic where the boss starts to apply the "Curse of the Mummy" via a tether that stacks the debuff to 4 stacks. Until you turn to a mummy yourself. The mechanic is intended to be stunned. I did stun it, but boss just continues to apply it afterwards (or even while stunned two times as you can see in the battlelog on the left). Is there more to it or is it a bug?

    I eventually stunned it and it stopped, but it seems 50:50.

    The point of stunning the boss is so that it can't follow the tethered person as they run away. The stun doesn't interrupt the laser. The tethered player stops building stacks once they reach a certain distance. They should keep running a few steps farther after the stacks stop to account for the boss resuming chase when the stun wears off.

    Note that this also means that Perpetual Ray will usually not be effective for this purpose because it's only a 1s stun, not long enough for most jobs to get away from the boss without a disengage action.

    It seemed to have worked then even with 1s stun, just because when you stun early enough, you skip the whole mechanic apparently. It seems to be a skill combo, and if you interrupt the first (the draw-in red marker), the boss wont do the 2nd (tether). Which kinda made sense back then. (Not so much nowadays as we have surecast/arms length, which could make the mechanic fail instantly by distance)

    While in the battlelog the stun occurs before the first tether-stack started, so it was too late even though it didn't even start yet technically... Giving me different results for the same thing...But yeah seems to be distance based at that point lol

    It may look like stunning the Vicegerent stopped the attack altogether, but I'm confident this is just incident to the tethered person moving sufficiently far enough away during the stun.

    Like I said I did it solo, foolishly expecting a min ilvl run would increase the orchestrion scroll drop rate, (but its only for selected duties, which I noticed later lul). And in solo and later unsync it was easy to tell it skips the mechanic.

    If you stun this you will be fine


    If you stun this, you wont be - it will continue, unless you keep distance. And he walks pretty fast during that, so the evasion has to happen fast.

    Well.... yeah. If you stun before the attack goes off, the attack doesn't go off. If you stun after the attack is completed, the attack completed and you need to follow the attack mechanics.

    Well... there is a difference in it not going off and skipping right. Many mobs will just do the attack right after the stun comes off. Similar how all mobs in PotD that come out of witching are doing their skills. But this will skip it, which is fine. But not so usual.

    Oh, I see, stunning the overhead marker before the draw-in will prevent the draw-in and laser. Stunning after the draw-in will still only stop the Vicegerent from following the tethered player while they're tethered.
