No, all they have to do is leave the grinding how it is now or similar and give fair amounts of experience through quests.. I am sorry to hear that you have never seem a decent balance between the two.. because that is a false statement.

Give fair rewards, and make enjoyable quests while leaving the option to grind. If the experience is not worth the effort then there will need to be adjustments.

It would be different if I was referring to perfecting the balance between pvp and pve, there are always issues with both sharing the same selection of skills. Don't overcomplicate this.

    ^ Exactly this.

More options never hurt this game, but then again there's just no pleasing Trollkien is there?

In every MMO I've played (Including new ones) people prefer leveling via quests than mob grinding unless the specific MMO is designed in a way you can only level reliably through mob grinding (usually in instanced dungeons.)

So no I've never seen a proper balance between the two because even if it exists, players will choose one route over the other, just like in XIV currently players choose job stacking over varied setups even though both work just fine.

That's how I think about it. There is no reason to make grinding useless.
I thought they wanted to make the game feeling more like a Final Fantasy game? :/

I will be fine if the first job you level is via quests but than have to level your others through grinding on camps and mobs.

Because unlike every other mmo, you can be more than one "class" per char. So, this could work out, though they could add 100 quests for each job....

Though, I really don't wanna see this turn into a solo mmo, that's another thing. Most mmos you can do 90% of these quests solo. At least with camps and parties you are with other people. This is a final fantasy it's about comradery

Probably because grinding is boring and outdated.

And questgrinding isn't? Quest grinding is pretty old concept as well, i really don't think that's very "new age" either.

Not better than Swotors non generic quests, and only better than Wow's non generic quests by presentation( GC quest look prettier) but they are not more dynamic than either of the other 2.
