^ Exactly this.
More options never hurt this game, but then again there's just no pleasing Trollkien is there?

They might as well have.
Completing the quests, getting rewards, huge experience points, or completing a dungeon and getting experience points, that's going to be the key thing to level up your character, not like at the moment where you have to do monster camping or farming, that's not going to work in 2.0.
Lets not forget getting all your gear from quests as you level up!~ There goes even more comradery, no point in crafters crafting or selling anything until level 50
As long as the crafted gear has better stats than its quest reward equivalent, it won't really be an issue.
Yeah only thing we have to go on is: They want to make 2.0 a "standard MMO", so by quests we can safely assume they'll be low quality sources of exp and nothing more. So enjoy your grand company quest quality while you can ; ;

It basically said you will level up through doing quests, as long as it is comparable to the XP rate/hour you get now then there's no problem, even if it's a bit faster (like he implied at E3) then that's good too.
Point is though, that it wouldn't be a very smart move for them to take out the option. Especially from a group that contains ffxi veterans. If they want to put an emphasis on questing, then that is great. It is just more options when leveling up your classes.well other games removed grinding unless you want really slow xp you can grind, i think on reason is because its takes time to do a quest vs AOE spam grind mass xp. as long as its not basic leves im all for it or as long as it keeps the game from being a dead end like most other themepark mmo's.
Other games do all sorts of things, good and bad. It doesn't really matter though..
Also, usually most quests are a one time deal. With the armory system that wouldn't be too friendly if they took away the ability to level.. unless of course they added in many repeatables(which could get tedious).
Done right, people will do both, and people will mostly be happy. The point is to evolve the game, give us more than what we had with a better system and world.
