Exactly bro! I believe people are taken this: Killing monsters for exp will not work" line and making its really sound like "killing for exp will not happen" That's not how I see it.

I believe that's how he just " feels like most players are feeling to him Kill Marmot 50 times.. kill Raptors 200 times... kill beastman 500 times... I agree it can get boring after awhile.. so to ease up on the repetitiveness, he's working hard to make alot of quests so if you feel like you need to stop and take a break from kill endless amounts of monsters you can.

This is what I believe is to be the case.

well other games removed grinding unless you want really slow xp you can grind, i think on reason is because its takes time to do a quest vs AOE spam grind mass xp. as long as its not basic leves im all for it or as long as it keeps the game from being a dead end like most other themepark mmo's.

Hm. From the looks of this interview, it looks like Crystal Tower is confirmed at 2.0 launch.

The way I see it, grinding the same mobs over and over for exp is a system that belongs in the past. I remember when I tried to get people to play FFXI, almost all of them found exp parties to be a huge turn off. So if their aim is to get as many people as possible to play this game, then they need to replace it with something more exciting. Not to mention something that makes more sense.

Killing the same mobs over and over for no reason makes you wonder exactly who is the monster...

You will still be killing mobs over and over. These quests will probably be like go kill x amount of x. over and over again.

grinding is grinding if you ask me. Maybe this is Yoshi's way of adding in longer fights but making the largest part of the xp reward being turn in based so that they don't have to balance mob xp so much.

Yet people ignore with Quest Chaining type grinding you do the same thing over and over which we already have via Guildleves ^^.

Leves are different than the mindless slaughter of dodos, sheep, anglers, and anything else you camp.
Killing monsters over and over offers no particular reward, other than the experience.

If you take that, and give it a purpose - say a quest that gives you more reason to kill these monsters - you can also get gil, items, and all sorts of other things, including bonus quest experience.

Read the guildleve dialog sometime. I guarantee it's the same thing as Quest Chaining in other MMOs, since in other MMOs you:

    1. Talk to NPC, they spout nothingness, tell you to kill 10 Wolves.
    2. You go kill 10 wolves.
    3. You return to NPC, get your money and/or items.

    Guildleves:

    1. Talk to NPC, select your Guildleves, you get a pop up with a story and your objective
    2. Go to camp, initiate it.
    3. Complete it, get your gil and/or items.

    The same thing.

Irrelevant. As a matter of fact, I wasn't referring to that at all.

I was just saying that quest chaining (leves included) offer far more incentive than going out and kill random crap in the field for no reason other than EXP.
