DirectX11 crash in game, crash at startup

Hello everyone! Recently started getting directx11 crashes when starting the first msq for patch 6.1. This was the error message I would get every time the game began to load to the cutscene:

Overnight I decided to Restore Game Data to see if that would do the trick.

Unfortunately, now FF crashes at startup! This is the error message I get when I'm able to get it to give me one:

We would like to apologize for the error you've been experiencing. Using the information, you've provided; we would like to suggest that you try the following troubleshooting steps:

- Make sure that the Windows OS is fully updated. (Please ensure that optional items are also installed)
- Ensure that the GPU drivers are fully updated or to do a clean re-install.
- Perform a clean boot by opening the task manager and select the 'Start up' Tab. Then be sure to disable everything.
- Please be sure that Final Fantasy XIV is installed to the C: Drive. (Having the game installed on a different drive can sometimes lead to issues)
- Please be sure to disable or remove any overlays (Discord, Steam, NVIDIA etc.) as they may interfere with startup.
- Make sure that the Windows OS is fully updated. (Please ensure that optional items are also installed)
- Due to the nature of the issue, we would highly suggest re-installing as this will ensure that all the files are cleared out.
- We would also suggest to delete the Patch Folder to ensure no corrupted data left over from the previous installation is left: Navigate to the folder using this path This PC > Docs > My Games> FFXIV ARR > Downloads > FFXIV patch (Then either rename or remove the folder, the next time FINAL FANTASY XIV is launched, the client will repair the folder)

Looks to be graphics driver related based on the error messages. I've seen this before with other games/systems usually after an upgrade or driver update.

One thing to try is ensure that all your drivers are up to date (I can see your Graphics driver is on latest version already) but also see about BIOS, Chipset, etc. One thing I usually try is uninstall the graphics driver completely (ideally using DDU), ensure BIOS is updated, then download and do a fresh graphics driver install.

You could try an older version of the graphics driver as well to see if that's more stable.

Also check if something is overclocking your graphics card - that can cause instabilities too.

Hello!

After a few days of head scratching, graphics card reinstalling, FF uninstalling/reinstalling, I finally bit the bullet and simply reinstalled on my C drive this morning.

Works like a charm. I was using an external ssd because my internal ssd is precariously low, but come to find out I have enough for now. Come Dawntrail I'll have to upgrade it seems!
