If you are carrying all of those things, you probably do not have inventory issues; you likely have either hoarding issues or activity prioritization issues.

Adding those currency tabs might work around individual people's hoarding problems; however it would require increasing the data storage for everyone. As regular inventory items it does not matter what progress anyone has made and how many different items they are hoarding--the data storage is the same. As currency items, every single character's data would get bigger even if they aren't carrying any of the items, which is why the Currency window is so limited to begin with.

    Addendum:

Example: You need at most 57 of each Manderville ore, plus one ore per restat if you somehow don't pick the right stats the first time. You should be able to get the stats right within one restat, and then you never need another one again.

Example: You need at most 13 of each Luminous [Element] Crystal, and then you never need another one again.

Example: You need at most 130 of each Unidentifiable anima weapon item. After this, two of them have no other use. The other two can be used to purchase soil and nothing else, but the soil is also available from other sources.

It would be wasteful to move those items to Currency and have them take up permanent space in the data structure when the vast majority of people won't need to collect or spend them after just one or two relics, if they want to make any relics to begin with.

I'm in agreement with Rongway. Don't hoard those items for future use. Get rid of them either by using them or discarding them. They'll be easy enough to reacquire later if you need them in the future.

The existence of pay per month retainers makes all arguments against a better inventory system automatically wrong imho. "Activity prioritization issues", come on, not everyone wants to grind out a single thing all at once.

I have yet to see someone complain about inventory space issues and not also turn out to be a massive hoarder of useless junk.

you gotta resist the urge to go "oh but i'll be leveling fishing next so i'll just save all my equipment" and instead just level them all at the same time. otherwise you end up with two retainers filled with crap you'll never use because you get one to max level and then lose motivation again.

also throw away anything that gives you equipment from two expansions or more ago. no, you don't need that precision gordian shaft. stop it. put it down. PUT. IT. DOWN.

Now I would love to have all currency stored like that because it's ultimate QoL and easy inventory management (there is none! lol), akin to how some MMOs have all crafting regents too.

Though a side potential suggestion that might be more easily feasible for SE is that any currency and crafting item (because why not) is accessible from your chocobo saddlebags. On the topic, and an aside, I would love a "craft from all inventories" feature, or at least a crafting bank like WoW is adding (essentially, with warbands).

I find inventory space isn't the problem as much as we need more smart inventory space (like if I could use kupo nuts or something to force all retainer inventories to be queued up for stacking / sort rules and it would attempt to follow them). I have plenty of space for the currencies I hoarded, I just find it annoying having to find them when I want them lol (and would use the chocobo bags if it worked like that).

So it’s spend money for more storage, or do everything over and over to reacquire things you threw away. God forbid they improve the systems.

That's a hoarding problem. I just keep what I am working on and get rid of the rest. I also don't buy things like Manderium Meteorites in advance but when I need them for a weapon. Tomes are very easy to get by. If you are working on all those things at the same time, focus on one, get it done and get rid of surpluses.

God forbid players use common sense and stop hoarding every piece of junk that drops into their inventory when they're struggling with inventory problems.

Even if someone is actively working on farming relic weapons, the necessary items don't take up all 560 slots available to us between character, retainers and chocobo saddlebag (more if you have additional retainers).

Try discarding those 30+ stacks of random food/potions/tinctures that SE tossed out as quest rewards but almost no one uses.

Did you end up with a dozen different stacks of Magicked Prisms? Bet you don't use more than 2 or 3 of them. Get rid of the rest.

All those random materia you get from dungeon runs or materia clusters from raids/hunts? Buy random materia with the clusters then vendor all that materia outside of the Xs (and VIIs/IXs if you overmeld) and whichever you need for any relics you're working on that are hard to get. Most of those materia are selling at or below sell to vendor price on the market board not to mention they are generally useless since level syncing deactivates stats gained through materia.

Take a really good hard look at everything you have in those 560 slots and ask yourself: am I currently using this item? If the answer is no, ask yourself if you are collecting the item for a specific use that will happen in the next 6-8 weeks? If the answer again is no, ask yourself how hard it is to get the item? If the answer is anything other than "very difficult to get" or "requires real money purchase", get rid of the item.

It's amazing how much space you can create when you get rid of the things you're not actively using and/or can easily obtain when you need it. Suddenly you have room for those things that are actually important to you and deserve a spot in your inventory.
