There's an issue that I run into frequently in fights with certain very tall bosses, such as Anabaseios: The Tenth Circle, Abyssos: The Seventh Circle, or Abyssos: The Eight Circle (Savage) second half. Other tall bosses, such as those in The Abyssal Fracture are much less susceptible because the way they are positioned.
If I attempt to use tab targeting to target a very tall enemy, it fails if I cannot currently see the 3D center point (horizontal and vertical) of the boss's model. This makes it very clunky to re-target the boss after performing actions on other party members during mechanics that take place inside of the boss's hitbox. Especially so if the mechanic (as almost all mechanics do) requires me to look at the floor at the same time.
Of course, for mechanical reasons, I prefer to keep my camera facing as much towards the ground as possible rather than towards the vertical center of the boss's model, so that I can easily see floor and hitbox based mechanics. This means that I have to swing my camera upward (and then back down again) after every time I heal, mitigate, or teleport to another party member.
All methods that require line of sight suffer from from this problem, such as d-pad left and right, confirm (X), tab (L1 or R1 with a cross hotbar activated).
I know that there are methods that don't require line of sight and thus bypass this problem, such as using the assist target feature, /target <tt> or <f> or <lt>, enemy list (L1+up/down), or clicking directly on the enemy's model. However, in almost every other piece of content in the game, it's sufficient to retarget the enemy by simply looking at its hitbox and pressing tab, so in the like 1-in-300 fights where this happens, it feels very inconsistent and interferes with my muscle memory.
I would really love to see some kind of change to line-of-sight targeting (or character setting, as I don't want to hinder anyone else's gameplay) that removes the need to be looking directly at the center of the target's model. It would be great if it worked by simply being able to see anywhere on its model, or at least something like the center 25%-50%, or if it checked whether you're able to see any point at which the 2D center point of its hitbox is drawn on a floor surface. (I suppose another possibly cleaner solution would be for the developers to implement individual fixes into the fights with extremely tall bosses.)
From my experiences speaking to other players, this strikes me as an issue that not everyone is susceptible to either because of how they use their camera or which targeting options they use, and so I don't predict a very loud reception to this post, but I find it so immensely frustrating on a regular basis that I feel like I need to at least make a thread addressing it so that I know I've tried.
