After accidentally discovering the thrill of having a snurble heal me in battle because I happened to run by one while wounded[low hp], I can't bring myself to kill one of them.

I seriously hope they just scrap the armory system and just have the current jobs assimilate the current classes. Then they should add more jobs and have some of them get new weapons while also being able to equip existing weapons. In the process, they could also add some new weapon types to existing jobs, such as giving warriors one handed axes as well.
The only problem I can see in doing this would be for those who leveled archer in order to be a ranged DD rather than a bard. I guess bard would need to still do "somewhat ok" damage in the new system in that case. The new job for ranged DD would however probably have to be ranger, which the current "planned" musketeer class would be fused into from the beginning of. This job would probably get access to bows and guns.
For all other classes, I don't think anyone would be opposed to "losing" the class and permanently becoming the job, as long as the job still could get the few strenghts that the class currently has over the job.
no.. I like the armory system.. it just needs to be expanded on and to keep getting improvements. ^^I seriously hope they just scrap the armory system and just have the current jobs assimilate the current classes. First of all I am proud to admit that I have never once killed a snurble or any of their species and never plan on it. My avatar on my forums is also a Snurble. <3
Secondly, I hope that the Dev team will take into consideration that while a variety of weapons is nice, perhaps some of the jobs can have more of a variety as well. Perhaps Archers can have an off hand dagger or something. It would be nice to see other jobs with more weapon variety without it it breaching the way the job system works.

Whip was only used by Rydia as a summoner. It was used by Beastmaster in FFV, and by Quistis (Blue Mage) in FFVIII. I think it should go to some monster-related job like BST or BLU, but the question still stands: what is left for SMN? Arcanist was supposed to use a staff with some sort of contraption on it (looks like a teapot to me). In most games they use wands or staves, but in IV Rydia uses a whip, and in IX Dagger and Eiko both use weird lacrosse rackets, and in XIII summons are called using crystals. In FFTA there is a Morpher class that uses soul orbs. Could SMN use something like that?
I read there is a dummied Fencer class, which could easily lead into Red Mage (FNC + CNJ = RDM?). I really think the game needs it as another half-mage, preferably one that can cure. I would rather it not be a back-line buffer like it is in XI, which doesn't do FF1 Red Mage justice unless soloing.
A lot of these weapon ideas sound appealing but I really just want to know what jobs we'll get first. It took XI far too long to come up with something as classic as Geomancer, so expecting it all right off the bat is nothing more than wishful thinking.
I think only Beastmaster (tamer) should be able to equip whips. (huge FF5 fan)
And summoner, well..im not sure...a spellbook maybe, or a Grand staff?
And i dont mean those regular sticks, maybe some deformed cool
looking rare wood staves, maybe with some crustal ball, gem inside it.
(kinda like the Elemental staves in FFXI, each summon should
have their own staff for the summoner to equip)
Since we already know guns are coming, can we get some Maces in here? It's like a sword except it crushes bones!

There we go, give Summoner that! Why not? >.> Or perhaps the above post was more suited to some sort of bone crushing barbaric class...
I think summoner deserves a weapon that is comprised of elegance, and does not necessarily have to be a weapon that looks like it can inflict harm of any kind (though it should) as they are a summoner and summon avatars or creatures to do their fighting.I think only Beastmaster (tamer) should be able to equip whips. Some of the ideas I like and have heard are:
1. Glowing Orb (1 Handed or 1H)
- Though if they are not using a giant glowing orb ball thing, where would they put it or would it be like /display mh off?
2. Ribbon Stick (1H)
- A graceful and elegant display of dancing to summon up your creature to fight by your side. Not to be mistaken as a whip.
3. Dagger (1H)
- No classes assigned to a dagger, yet.
4. Sai (2H)
- Then again, if we got a Ninja job, what would they use? Answer: Katana!!!
Besides wouldn't a summoner in an Obi with some Sai look adorable! <3
Used best with one on both hands.
5. Hoola Hoop (2H)
- Okay something shaped like a Hoola Hoop that spins so fast and can slice enemies in half and returns... I guess that would be like that Xena Warrior Princess weapon... but bigger. Hmm so maybe limited ranged. If your a summoner it's not like you want to be that up close and personal.
6. Umbrella (1H)
- Something more along the lines of a... well this!
7. Wrap or Shawl (2H)
- Comes to life when your in active mode and looks pretty too >.>;
(No I am not grasping at straws!)
8. Tonfa (2H)
- No room for shields here, these are best used in pairs!

We need to think of how weapons can have variants too, so they dont all look alike.
Whips
Cat o nine tails
flails
and my favorite idea for a whip relic: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Meteor_hammer
