I'd like to see staff as a viable alternative for MNK, and not in that lame way you could use them in FFXI. Like martial arts staff fighting.
But it would be nice to see more weapon types/styles available. However in that regard the new lieutenant weapons are all rather interesting.

I'd love to see more weapons being added to the game. It would really add a lot of variety if the different professions/classes had access to more than one type of weapon. I get what SE was trying to do when they first came up with the idea of weapon type = class, but it is really boring.
Examples: Marauders/Warriors being able to use Great Axes, Great-Swords, and dual-wield 1-handed Axes or Swords. Gladiator/Paladins being able to use 1-handed Swords and Maces. Archers/Bards being able to use Bows and Crossbows. Lancers/Dragoons being able to use... well, nevermind. I actually don't have any good Lancer ideas.

I want magic wep as spellbook too, though it is not very FF like but I want it !

As far as I know, from datamining way back when FFXIV was first released in alpha/beta, people found classes that haven't been implemented yet:
- A class for whips
- A newbie summoner class
- Some sort of gunblade class (or at least gunblades in the dats other than what the empire uses)
- Pretty sure SAM and NIN weapons are in there somewhere
and a whole plethora of other stuff that we have yet to see.

each new weapon should modify your ws's though.
