Endwalker just got less quality content. That is not on 1 man. He asked those devs to go help make ff16. Instead they should have built up talent 4-6 years ago and not now. However this means that post launch content for DT should be fine but at this point anything is better than the content we got from EW

I hope he doesn't. Not for FFXIV's sake but XVI is kinda bad.

Idc who makes FF17, but if its another FF13/FF16 hallway I might think the series is no longer for me.

But it wasn't. So I'm going to go out on a limb and say XVI's development had little impact on XIV.
Really no amount of manpower is going to help with terrible game design decisions. Again I just hate the logic that people pin so much of the blame of FFXIV because of FFXVI. This is like saying "I couldnt be bothered to do my chores because I had homework to do". And again, FFXVI suffered as well NOT because Yoshida was also working on FFXIV but because of simple mess ups in the direction of the game that many people didnt agree with and the result of those design choices. And heck CBU3 was very proud and content with their work and didnt excuse its shortcomings due to "other projects". This is the most asinine argument Ive ever heard. Its such an excuse that people use to justify the quality of a product even though the answer was that the choices and design for the project failed to deliver in many ways. It is as simple as that.

So yelling that Yoshida shouldnt work on anymore projects is such an out of touch statement because that wasnt ever the issue for why current FFXIV is underwhelming. It has always been because of devs making mistakes with the content itself.

Actually, it is. Yoshi-P is in charge of FFXIV and makes all the final decisions. He checks the content himself personally, sometimes multiple times (he literally did the Endwalker MSQ several times just to decide sidequest pacing and he decided to delay the release to add in a cutscene at the end). If it's not as good as he wants, he asks them to make it better (developers have mentioned this when discussing their work environment) or redo it (the person who worked on O11S said they were asked to redo it because it dragged on too long, but it ended up better because of it).

When there is a philosophical shift in Yoshi-P's mindset, it tends to get reflected in all the interviews he does (and he does them all around the year), and then you see that mindset translate into changes in the game - with simpler jobs being an example. The first I saw a shift was when he used to say how some jobs were complex and some were beginner friendly and even listed ones he thought were good for beginners. That started to shift as he thought about it more and said that he didn't believe jobs needed to be complicated, necessarily, just fun. That then led to what we have now with the jobs.

I used to see him regularly say how important it was for each job to be unique. Suddenly, that thing that was mentioned regularly stopped being mentioned at all and that's when job uniqueness began to really disappear.

What he says, what he believes, makes its way into the game, because he's the boss and he's in charge.

He asked those devs to go help make ff16. Instead they should have built up talent 4-6 years ago and not now.
He asked them to go help make FF16... back between 2015 and 2019. Literally many of them moved over after developing Heavensward, which is why you can see some common themes in FF16 that were seen in Heavensward.

As they slowly left for the FF16 team, they had been recruiting new people to work on FF14 and training them. Lots of the Stormblood developers were newer developers who took over things from the ones who worked on Heavensward. These developers also gave us Shadowbringers, one of the best expansions, best stories with amazing content such as Bozja, CLL, Dalrida, DR and DRS and aesthetically impressive dungeons. And I am sure many of them are still working on Endwalker as well.

They are always recruiting new developers for FF14 if you so much as check their open positions with google translate. It's not like they aren't constantly trying to expand their team and train them. I've checked it every so often for a few years and they are always recruiting for their CBU3 MMO division that is so obviously, and sometimes directly mentioned, to be FF14.

EW was an absolute bore thanks to FF16 being in the work and a team that did mediocre content, let's not do that again.
I dont mind cbu3 doing another project, so long as they have man power and resources. Which they dont and last time Yoshi mentioned it. SE told him he would not be getting another budget increase anytime soon.

If he wants to work on another main title game within SE I'd recommend finding a franchise that isn't an RPG within the catalogue. Even if that means digging deep to revive something they've ignored for a long period of time. Awhile back there were interviews done with numerous people involved in games development in Japanese companies which he was among those interviewed where they were gathering thoughts and opinions from them on the term "JRPG" which Yoshia indicated he viewed the term negatively and a desire to distance himself from it. To me that just felt like a red flag for working on RPG franchises and the offering we received with FF16 to me kind of confirms it.

At this point they should just offload developement of XIV to new team and let them do what they want.

I liked FFXVI, though I felt like there were some elements that needed attention, at least less of that feeling than I had in FFXV (which I also liked but which had glaring "...guys, you.. you know didn't finish.. right?"). There were a few things that were probably a bit too similar to an MMO, certainly combat took their FFXIV approach which was to help you learn, for a long time, lol. At the end I was enjoying the combat a lot, but it was baked later than it should have been (imo). The meaningful accessory cooldowns being saved for new game plus was a bit annoying, itemization in general was pretty 'meh' (like FFXIV lol). FFXVI gave me strong God Of War vibes in terms of structure, but one of the biggest issues when comparing those two for me is that GoW had much better level design and FFXVI had pretty yet relatively "MMO" layouts. The other primary comparison for me was in FFXVI cutscenes for generic content was similar to FFXIV, where in GoW anything telling was worth telling and therefore was told VERY well, sure any of the major cinematic moments in FFXVI were absolutely epic, but there was a lot, a lot, of generic quest C tier camera work as well- which is fine if this was an MMO. Anyway, hoping they are capable of constructively observing what went well and not I imagine the next one will be even better / fun.

As for CBU3, I think it's a fair concern to worry if they have enough talent to spread across multiple projects. It's easy to point out games that appear to be under cooked, for whatever reason (though it seems to be a common 'AAA' occurrence these days, and another reason why companies that are 'on it' for community interaction and support (fixing things) are loved even more). Also don't misunderstand the statement as I don't think they have talent, only that you want to ensure you have enough people power, with the necessary skills, on each project and when you're a division of a company it might be harder to do.

Though I don't like playing the game of pretending I know their financial and talent means, it limits us players when we act conservatively on their behalf and cuts us short for sometimes no good reason except to make shareholder coffers laugh, and alternatively if we pretend that we know they've the assets to do something but they may legitimately not be able to and are trying to figure it out (designed into a technological hole, literally no one on the team knows how to do it and they're trying to hire a person who can, other features took more for whatever reason and they're spread thin, etc, etc). Back seat producer never made sense to me. Just ask for what you want, ideally explaining why so they might personalize it or at least get a better pulse check (if they care to).

Hope he can create what he'd like to create while all games produced are fantastic games that are fun to play . Ideally more great games would be wonderful.

I just want them to move on from linear hallways filled with invisible walls.
