FFXIV did not win any awards at the 2023 Video Game Awards

Lets be frank, the game isn't at a peak at the moment of time, a bit of the SHB shine is now going off.

Maybe XIV will come back strong with DT after what I've come to call midwalker , but currently I dont think XIV was at the level it deserved a TGA this year at least.

I honestly like Endwalker; but, I agree FFXIV is not at the level required for an award this year. C'est La Vie...

In truth, I never pay attention to awards. It's always a popularity contest and seldom reflects the true quality of the game.

For example, BG3 won an award and it was clearly rushed to release with bugs all over the place. It's so broken I've experienced game crashes when creating a character right after the first cut scene. Meanwhile, No Man's Sky has been steadily improving their game, with no additional cost, every patch since 2016.

Winners are chosen by jury. Some games who win are most certainly not the popular games that get the most player votes. Not that I expected FFXIV to win on-going game when pitted against Fortnite and Genshin. Especially since it's been a contentious expac.
Also Cyberpunk shouldn't even have been in the category to begin with. Hotfixes and ONE DLC, no matter how good, do not make an 'on-going' game. Else nearly every game would qualify for 'on-going'. There was a couple of games that had no reason to be in the category they were in.

That being said: BG3! It really deserves it and so does Neil Newbon. I'm glad that was the one of the few nominations that a lot of people agreed with.

Like NMS, BG3 is still improving, it received 13 hotfixes and 5 patchs since its launch, which is pretty good. With no additional cost too. The game is still buggy though, but I wouldn't call it broken. I'm sorry you did not have a great experience with it, but it seems to vary from players
I don't think taking this game as an example to say TGA's choice of games are only popular, often mediocre ones, is very honest. It's still a pretty great game, despite its bugs

Why would FFXIV win a "Best Community Support" award when the devs don't really engage with the community anymore?

They even got rid of stuff like the player QA from fanfest this time to distance themselves from even the slightest bit of feedback or questions players might have.

I wouldn't call it trash, I've definitely played worse.
But I probably had more fun playing Warlords of Draenor from 2014 to 2016, and I wasn't even raiding in WoW at that time. That's a pretty dire statement about how engaging I found Endwalker.

Endwalker was a step back. Even ffxiv players didnt vote for it to be best ongoing game because of how bad EW was. As for best community, there are other communities that are much better and the devs are more communicative with the players. I agree with the results
