    FFXIV did not win any awards at the 2023 Video Game Awards

    Citizens, we got two nominations: Best Community Support and Best Ongoing Game, but we won neither of them. Best Community Support went to BG3 and Best Ongoing Game went to Cyberpunk 2077. Congrats to both of them. Maybe next year.

    Winning those awards was just a reflection of FFXIV having the most connected, viral community that can, with the greatest of ease, spread a link to vote for the game awards around the entire community, and almost everyone will do it. It will spread from FC to linkshell to FC, to discord to discord, and all across ex-twitter who all follow eachother and make FFXIV things trend regularly.

    Most gaming communities are not connected to this same extent. It's a reflection of the "massively multiplayer" aspect of it compared to other games.

    It only got nominated for a single category anyway (best continuing game) so it's a moot point I guess.

    Funnily enough FFXVI did win an award though - for best music, which, is sort of kind of an award for XIV too (given Soken did FFXVI's OST).

    To be fair, it lost to some amazing games this year, and those awards were well-deserved. BG3 is great and CP2077 just released a fantastic expansion this year to really put that game over the top. And they just released a new patch with the new features.

    So I don't feel bad for this game not winning anything. We're in a bit of a dry spell. But this should make all the people on these forums elated as it validates their narrative that FFXIV is utter trash and is dying.

    So, good for them!
