I support racial differences and traits, as well as unique job traits on top of them. Really disappointed they removed most racial traits from gear as well.

You get like 2 free Fantasias and you can make multiple characters at no extra charge. It worked just fine for XI and really helps immersion and roleplay.

By racial traits from gear do you mean clothes only a specific race can wear? I feel I remember that was a thing but I can't recall stats, so I just wanted to check.

I remember in Arcanum: Of Steamworks and Magick Obscura (old crpg) there was gear size so you'd get this cool armor and it would only fit the dwarf lol. For personal context I'm not really in love with that just because I'd like people to be able to feel like they can undo choices they regret (easy to do with jobs, items, and professions, harder with races, at least with a non-warband solution- genuinely a neat solution to that issue), but I did enjoy reading about people's racial ideas anyways.

If I had to choose sanitized game with no roleplay gameplay (closer to what we have now) or a game with heavy roleplay gameplay and sometimes hard choices, I would absolutely no thought choose the second option. Though like I said I'd prefer if we can get the roleplay without the feeling of "OH MY GOD, WHERE IS MY FANTASIA, I'VE MADE A HORRIBLE CHOICE!!" lol.

No, I mean gear being tailored to your race.

They tried that once... I don't think they know how to do it.

Nah, I play a BRD as sea wolf, the race with the 2nd lowest dex (lowest until hroth came out), and I can still do perfectly fine, do week 1 savage, ultimates, etc. As others have said, it's statistically insignificant at this point.

However, as irrelevant as it actually is, it will always be fun to narrowly avoid dying to a raidwide and claim it was because of my roe vit (since vitality is the one thing sea wolves have at max). Was it? Probably no, the difference is like 50 HP or something. But it's a fun little bit of flavor to joke about.
