    The stats on races is quite irrelevant, unlike say stats in at least vanilla FFXI. You can definitely imagine they don't exist, to min max race would be like min maxing 5 damage on a million damage critical hit... Lol.

    I am a huge fan of gameplay role play and would love to see it actually present in more things but I caution race and would point to jobs, professions, and items instead. Put 10k hours into your character to see you picked wrong or a new race is just way more interesting passive.. I think that consequence is too much. Please go ham on other stuff though, if you want to jump higher just slap the dragoon crystal on.

    considering they have gone out of their way to homogenize the jobs into a flatline experience...

    I wouldnt hold your breath on changes to racial stats except to maybe remove the virtually insignificant contribution they have now.

    would I like to see something out of combat, sure, would be nice. But racial stats seem to have suffered the same fate as so many other things in the game, forgotten and/or left out of their plans (chocobo companions and the grand company Adventurer Squadrons anyone?)

    If we're talking about inconsequential things, FFXI did it with food.
    Mithra(miqote) could eat raw fish
    Galka(roe) could eat raw meat
    Elvan(elezen) had a bonus when eating omelets I think
    TaruTaru(lalafels) can be fed to monsters for increased drop rates

    The stat bonuses for races are already a flat number, and that 3ish points mean nothing when your stat is over 3000, and rising.

    Adamantly against tying actual consequential mechanical differences to them, even if it's out of combat "fluff" (which, frankly, movement speed boosts *never* qualify as even if it *is* out of combat only). Let my aesthetic mind and my optimizing mind rest happily separate from each other.

    Re. a theoretical "faster movement" trait, that has the potential to be annoyance as much as blessing. Already when playing as ninja it can be awkward to keep pace with your party or particularly with "follow the NPC" tasks because they're programmed to move at standard running speed so the player can move with them at the same speed. If you're equipped as ninja, you instead have to constantly run-and-walk so you don't end up ahead of the character who's supposed to be leading you.

    It's fine that the racial stats don't really affect gameplay. The biggest possible difference between stats between races seems to be 5 points (18 min, 23 max). That definitely accounts to practically nothing at this point and that's fine as you can freely play whatever race you want.

    I’d be interested in seeing what happens if they make them scale properly all the way to 90 for specifically patch 6.58 with reversion to the current status quo come 7.0.
