I think most of us would rather SE use server space for more housing rather than this idea; their systems are already half-baked. Let them actually fix something first before moving to the next idea. Island sanctuary was already a waste of time and resources; we don't need more dead content.

I really don't see how adding what essentially amounts to a portal to an inn would take away from developing solutions to the housing crisis. It already works just fine with the workshop, this isn't all that different than that. OP stressed that it would not be a customized space just so that it would be easily implemented with rhe resources we already have.

I don't think Island Sanctuary was a waste of time or resources. I just think, personally, the way people game, and FFXIV itself, doesn't lend itself well to the build of Island Sanctuary. People will binge through new content and not touch the game as soon as they finish. If the sanctuary was more properly time gated, I think it would have been more interesting. But binge culture and the way the game itself just doesn't lend to island sanctuary.

But my idea is more about having a nice place to actually use things that aren't normally available in the home. I use island sanctuary as an example because there was limited customization, which means, despite what people think, it is very low on resources. There's only so many animal combos in the farm, so many crops in the garden, etc. Everyone's island is on the same timers.

It is very likely, outside of the outside furniture you can place there, The Island Sanctuary is probably one of the lower resource heavy things in the game.

I just think an inn but for houses would somewhat "revive" what little neighborhood feeling there is, since people would be more inclined to go to their houses.
