I've reached my final verdict last expansion. My thoughts have not changed this expansion, and I'm pretty certain that it's not going to change this coming expansion. Things need changing for certain. However, for the most part it's not a balancing issue that has persisted. It's a community issue. Majority hyper focus objectives, and when contesting or collecting them isn't possible for majority of the game one of the losing team decides to help the winning team reach their goals. It doesn't matter how you change the rules. It will still persist. The only ones that will not be affected are those that are just there for the experience points. If you change frontlines to have 2 teams the only thing the losing team would do is either afk, leave mid match, or "run it mid." You can take away premades entirely, and a lot of people will get that high for a short time before finding something else to complain about, the defeatist attitude still being present in some games. I think premades are showing everyone the state of frontlines and how certain things are broken. However, if you want to see how many people care about playing frontlines or pvp in general add a surrender button. Just like everyone has the option to abandon dungeon runs and trial/raid runs give everyone the option to abandon the game without any penalties.
I honestly don't see why you would want a new button in there , if someone is discouraged, they should leave. If they won't leave and insist on AFKing, they should be kicked- in reality- I realize that's not going to go through in a number of cases.

If you insisted on a "surrender" button, sure- as long as you're fine with adding in a lockout when someone clicks it. Maybe an hour, and increment it to 24 hours if they click it again on the same day.

Requesting a reality check to establish whether or not I'm turning into a curmudgeon.

My understanding of Q-synching for PvP events is that organizers use an off-DC language (typically J on NA) so that they both avoid interlopers and avoid annoying people who want to play a normal match. The only exception I know to this is the weekly single-job FL series in which the Aether Q-synchers queue in English. I avoided today's Gunbreaker installment for obvious reasons, but a member of my FC was running her dailies and got dumped in it. Not surprisingly with that much HP on the field, it ran the full twenty minutes and apparently was less than engaging.

Is this reasonable behavior? I saw the promo for this on a 35k-member PvP server, so the fact only half a 72-person field turns up for this tends to confirm it's a bloody silly idea in the first place. But is this really okay?

Eh, to me doing silly stuff like trying to have all gunbreakers is much more reasonable compared to what premades usually do. Its not a winning strategy necessarily but it can be a fun one. I know on crystal I experienced, as a solo player, an all machinist team when the map was Onsal.

Given that the thread is talking about disruptive frontlines gameplay, I'd agree that syncing queues to bring a bunch of the same job in is indeed, by definition, disruptive to the gameplay.

But I disagree that someone grabbing 3 friends and playing a meta comp because they want to win is disruptive, that's just 4 people playing the game as allowed by the systems.

Yeah I approve of silly stuff, I just wish this particular clique could be fenced off from the rest of us if we don't wish to be silly. Like it's silly to run a dungeon with the rule that you're only allowed to walk. I can imagine choosing to do that with friends, but if I roulette into a dungeon and the other three members are walking, I am gonna be a tad irked.

Which is understandable. If they could setup a custom match they could certainly go do that and not involve others.

I'd certainly hope they'd choose to do that, but I'm wondering if part of the appeal of this weekly event is to give the middle finger to players who simply want to enjoy FL. We are dealing with "salt farmers" after all.

If you want to beat them... track them... when they engage the other group... hit them from behind... it will do insane damage, because if you notice the DRK runs to the back once done its thing... and the system works like it can only move forward, you can ravage them entirely up from the other side.

But it requires alliances not to follow the obvious way and not to sandwich the other team to totally gank them and then get ganked right after, as it matches with the premade cooldowns to proceed directly onto the next alliance.

You can really ruin those premades, if you communicate with your alliance and do it well and you don't need the meta for for either to do such easy.

We've gone over this, it's missing the point.

True its the one thing they can't realistically handle all the time. Just takes one bad trade for them to lose a bunch of points they stocked up on. I know I seen the third place team do it on my team of rando who were in the lead. Sometimes you don't even need to communicate if your team just wordlessly moves over to pinch them, although only place I seen that happen multiple times is shatter when the premade is trying to invade another team's big ice and your team pinches them from behind. As those hallways on shatter can basically be a death sentence if the enemy shows up behind you.
