Bring Back AFK Kick to the Servers

Seriously, no matter what time I log into the game there is a queue, and it’s all because people AFK constantly, especially in Limsa. I don’t get it. If you’re not going to be actively playing due to work, sleep, school, whatever… why not just log off? Are you that lazy that you can’t be bothered to log back into the game? Some people do this for days…

Also if it’s because you want to show off your character/glams, no one cares. People become desensitized to it and you don’t look nearly as cool as you think you do.

I loved it when if you weren’t playing, you would be kicked from the server to make room for others. That needs to be a permanent feature, because being AFK for ling periods of time adds nothing to the game. It doesn’t make the world feel alive because you cannot interact with AFK players. If anything it makes the game feel even more empty than it has lately when you see the same people every single day just standing around AFK in the same locations. It’s just a nuisance and an eye sore most of the time.

It absolutely needs to come back and stay. I really cant think of a reason why you'd want a player who isnt actually there to be signed in and loaded into the game world, but hasnt done anything for over 30 minutes. When you are AFK in a duty for more than 10minutes you get kicked out of it so why is there no such thing for the game as a whole.

There. That's a reason. And as long as the servers aren't congested and I'm not taking a spot from anyone who would be actively playing, there's zero reason to disable my ability to do this or to cause me the annoyance of having to log in every time.

Really, i suppose the underlying problem I have with AFK players, is that I can see them, but I cannot socialize with any of them. That is what I miss the most, the socialization of the game. Now it seems getting someone to talk is like pulling teeth, and everyone is so anti-social. I would rather walk around an empty server and know, “okay this is why there isn’t anyone to talk to,” than see all these players standing around AFK and still know that there isn’t anyone to talk to. So yeah, kick the AFK players.

You forgot waiting to get in, and then having to reenter my house, all while trying to fit going to the bathroom and getting coffee into a timed break. But hey, I guess some people don't have to keep a schedule.

Did you conveniently forget the 1 min wait to log in ? That is due to the way SE login servers work which is to log people in batches instead of individually ?

Also full blast no to any afk kick, it's not needed with the population we have, when queues get in the thousands and thousands in DT sure (and even then, meh really, not for it), but as of right now no.

A lot of people use MMOs as IRC clients.

Being auto kicked breaks this.

So yes, for many, missing out on the Greenspan is a huge inconvenience.

IIRC, that que isn't because there are that many "people" logged in, it's to artificially slow down the login so as to not overwhelm the login servers.

This is the truth of the matter. ^ There's sometimes a 30+ queue logging into Marilith and we all know that Dyna isn't congested at any point of the day lol.

As far as AFK kick going back on, I don't really feel it needs it until Dawntrail when servers will actually get congested again and people will be sitting in thousand person queues. On the dead periods like this, it's not affecting anything for some dude to afk in Limsa overnight.

I dont see the reason as to wait for turning it back on though, in fact, it'd be better to turn it on now, so folks arent shocked as to why the got logged out later when the expansion comes out.
