    Premium mounts...Achievement Certificate...Grand Company Ranks...

FFXIV has now 37 mounts in the real money shop.

If we compare addons and how it developed

    ARR: 1
    HW: 6
    SB: 12
    ShB: 10
EW: 8, will get at least 9

That's excluding promotional events, Refer a Friend campaigns and CE mounts. (Which would bring it to ~60) With a total of 272 mounts. That is above 20%.

WoW is already older, started with premium mounts in the shop 2011. If you add them all together than they had 28 mounts purchasable at some point. But some are sub incentives (something SE used to do in the past briefly) and are retired afterwards, atm you can only buy 21. That is like half of what FFXIV has.

If you add trading card games, Refer a Friend, CE, promotions its around ~70 for WoW. With a total of ~900 mounts. That is still less than 10%.

(I know some WoW mounts absolutely look like some copypasta abomination that nobody really wants, but it creates higher total numbers...)

WoW is 20 years old, FFXIV 10 years. At this rate you will have 120 premium mounts in 10 years in FFXIV. Around 120 for ~550 total mounts.

I think it is too much! Get back to HW level of premium mounts, 1 per big patch at most.
Give some more mount rewards for ingame activity instead (maybe a fisher mount that's faster underwater, a crafting mount with vendors on it etc.). Rethink seasonal event quest reward structure, maybe bringing them back next year, instead of just making it a mogstation mount directly.

And what is actually happening with the achievement point system? It feels abandoned.
Grand Companies feel abandoned too, whatever happens with the next ranks?
Why is there no content for guilds specifically?
PvP Grand Company Ranks up to 50 only exist in achievement now too, after they became meaningless. They could be given more purpose again.
Clearing all 3 deep dungeon solo could give a mount too, instead of just a title.
You could add a mount reward for each ultimate paid with a token.

Game still nice to play sometimes imo, but loses its appeal in the long run...

It has 29 if you filter out previous event mounts. 3 of them are recolors of mounts available in game (bennu and the 2 magitek armors)

So really it has 26 mounts not available in game.

Many of the mog station mounts were obtainable in the game once through seasonal events. They didn't have to ever provide them to us again, because they were for the people participating in the temporary event similar to how it is with PvP. But if you're willing to pay, SE is willing to give you them after the seasonal event is over.

I want to say that the CE mounts and the EB mount are both effectively mog station mounts and should be counted.

Achievement points are in place of veteran rewards. They don't want it to feel too steep for a new player to reach all these rewards, so if a veteran player with lots of extra achievement points has too many, then that's just because they play too much isn't it?

With each Grand Company rank, they want to make it feel you are doing what that rank would involve. Now you are managing a squadron, so next would be managing multiple squadrons or eventually the entire army. At a certain point, it is going to involve a lot of work and SE has to ask if there is enough player interest in it to justify it. I don't think there ever was, so it seemed like a bit of a side project they did in Heavensward and early Stormblood.

There is content for Free Companies specifically, which is airships and submarines respectively. I never participate in these things because of that, so it results in excluding most players from it. It was the same when they made them required to get to Diadem in Heavensward. If you couldn't get there with your FC, you were being excluded from the content.

You say we should have a mount for clearing all 3 deep dungeons, but what about when a 4th one releases? They would have to keep adjusting it somehow. It doesn't future proof anything if they do that. Same for ultimates.

SE also does not intend for Ultimates to be something that the majority of players do. They once put on the lodestone that they don't expect most players will even set foot in it, but that it is designed to be streamed and done by streamers, so they encourage everyone to watch it on streams. So if they put mounts or significant rewards for it beyond just glamour or a materia slot, it would make people feel like they have to do it.

It's a shame they aren't doing more with achievement tokens, and Grand Company ranks for that matter. Even if it's just funneling the achievement rewards themselves into achievement tokens, much like the Ocean Fishing and Big Fish achievement, as those are locked behind the tokens. It at least gives a sense of usefulness with them. Though ideally the rewards would be more distinct.

Guilds specifically... I'm not actually sure if they need more content, versus just more facilities to actually help with organizing events, such as mount farming, etc., - They had tried guild-specific-esque content with the Diadem, which granted, part of the problem was the Diadem itself - But it's also difficult since a lot of guilds have a lot of diverse folk in them, e.g., some may engage with raiding, some may engage with relic farming, and some may engage with crafting.

Grand Company has got to be in the silliest spot currently.

With all due respect, the amount of achievement tokens required to get the rewards is pretty relax, even for casual and new players. It requires around 3550 points to get the certificates needed for all items. People aren't even asking for items that require an obscene amount of certificates. Besides, there is a balancing act, an act that doesn't intimidate newer players, whilst also simultaneously encouraging veterans, or even someone who has only completed the main story to engage with the system.

I don't expect the game to have enough items to spend 387 certificates but man give me an excuse to at least spend some of them LOL....
