FFXIV has now 37 mounts in the real money shop.
If we compare addons and how it developed
ARR: 1
HW: 6
SB: 12
ShB: 10
EW: 8, will get at least 9
That's excluding promotional events, Refer a Friend campaigns and CE mounts. (Which would bring it to ~60) With a total of 272 mounts. That is above 20%.
WoW is already older, started with premium mounts in the shop 2011. If you add them all together than they had 28 mounts purchasable at some point. But some are sub incentives (something SE used to do in the past briefly) and are retired afterwards, atm you can only buy 21. That is like half of what FFXIV has.
If you add trading card games, Refer a Friend, CE, promotions its around ~70 for WoW. With a total of ~900 mounts. That is still less than 10%.
(I know some WoW mounts absolutely look like some copypasta abomination that nobody really wants, but it creates higher total numbers...)
WoW is 20 years old, FFXIV 10 years. At this rate you will have 120 premium mounts in 10 years in FFXIV. Around 120 for ~550 total mounts.
I think it is too much! Get back to HW level of premium mounts, 1 per big patch at most.
Give some more mount rewards for ingame activity instead (maybe a fisher mount that's faster underwater, a crafting mount with vendors on it etc.). Rethink seasonal event quest reward structure, maybe bringing them back next year, instead of just making it a mogstation mount directly.
And what is actually happening with the achievement point system? It feels abandoned.
Grand Companies feel abandoned too, whatever happens with the next ranks?
Why is there no content for guilds specifically?
PvP Grand Company Ranks up to 50 only exist in achievement now too, after they became meaningless. They could be given more purpose again.
Clearing all 3 deep dungeon solo could give a mount too, instead of just a title.
You could add a mount reward for each ultimate paid with a token.
Game still nice to play sometimes imo, but loses its appeal in the long run...
