A proper bait box for Fisher

Recently, the PS5 version of the game added a trophy for catching 1460 different varieties of fish and it made me realise that 'Damn, we need a bait box for fisher.'

Ever since this trophy came along, I had a pretty well-managed inventory but with needing so many different baits my inventory is just so full all the time between the fish and the many different lures and baits needed to jump from fishing hole to fishing hole.

I think a bait box would resolve this issue. Am I crazy?

Yes, just a little crazy.

No other class or job gets specialized inventory space.

And bait is largely contained to individual expansions. Once you've caught everything in ARR zones, there's no reason to continue holding ARR bait. Once you've caught everything in HW zones, there's no reason to continue holding HW bait. Etc. Some exceptions, but few apply for general purpose.

The end result of a "tacklebox" would be 90% unused space because we don't need to hold onto every bait forever. Leading to the inevitable "just reassign that space for regular inventory" demands.

Adding specialized inventory is silly when they could simply add more regular inventory. And, since they don't have a great deal of capacity to do either, it's a null argument.

YoshiP has told us that there will not be any bait box or other specialized inventory added to the game outside of what we already have for gear. When they're able to add more inventory space to characters, it will be general inventory since different players have different interests.

As Hasrat said, there's no reason to keep all bait. Versatile Lure is available when you're adding information on a new fishing hole. It's easy to stop by a vendor to buy needed bait if you're going after a specific fish. Most bait is cheap enough or easy enough to acquire that once you're done fishing for the day, you can sell the leftover bait to a vendor or on the marketboard if you don't plan to back to the fishing hole in the next couple of days.

I keep about a dozen of the baits I use semi-frequently in my chocobo saddlebag. The rest I buy as needed and vendor when done (and that's very infrequent).

I think I just got a little overwhelmed by the amount of fish in-game and the different baits needed to catch them without properly researching first. I'm not too adept/knowledgeable about the fishing scene.

But I am almost done with ARR Big Fish just around 30 to go.

However, more inventory space at some point would be very much appreciated. Thanks for taking the time to reply to my post.
