Low Framerates on RTX 3060 ti

    Hello,

Recently, I upgraded my PC from GTX 1660 super to RTX 3060 TI. However, I have noticed that the framerates are lower than they used to be. For example, in Gridania aetheryte the FPS is around 80, while in Limsa they're around 50-60, and in hunts they can go down to 35-40.

Yes, I understand the more populated a location is, the less FPS. So I've tried to change my graphical settings from Maximum to High (Desktop) to even Standard (Dekstop) during an S-hunt, yet what surprised me is that no matter how much I change in these settings. The FPS remains the exact same!

I'm uncertain what the cause of the problem is, especially as I play other games and they always have my FPS at the max limit or around it, yet the only time FFXIV had 120 FPS is on the main screen and in my inn room. Anywhere else has 90 fps at best and 30 fps at worst.

I know in most occasions, having a stable 80 or 60 is good enough, but in anticipation of DT raising the system requirements, I need to ensure that my gameplay is smooth and not stuttering (As it already affects me in train hunts)

    A few general tips:

1.) Make sure you did a clean install of NVidia drivers by cleanly uninstalling them with the DDU tool (Display Driver Uninstaller, look it up on Google) and getting a clean driver install from NVidia's driver download centre.

2.) Make sure you aren't bottlenecking your PC - a good GPU is only as good as the CPU and power supply supporting it. Feel free to drop your PC specs here (Motherboard, CPU, GPU, RAM, Power Supply) so we can check for bottlenecks or incompatibilities. CPU in particular matters for FFXIV.

3.) Goes without saying, make sure your PC in general is up to date.

4.) Make sure that your PC's energy options are not set to anything related to Silent mode or Saving Power mode. In Windows its under Energy Options and the GPU may also have a profule if you have a dedicated software installed.

5.) If all else fails, might wanna run a benchmark tool to check if your PC is struggling with Power delivery or thermal throttling.

    1.) Done. No noticeable changes

    2.) Here's my PC specs
    Motherboard: H310M PRO-VDH PLUS (MS-7C09)
    CPU: Intel i5-9400F 2.90GHz
GPU: Gigabyte RTX 3060 ti 8GB
    RAM: 16GB
    Power supply: 750w
    Operation system: Windows 11

3.) I have checked both the Windows update & Geforce experience. Everything is up to date

4.) It's a Desktop PC, and I haven't found any energy options that might limit my PC

5.) How to do said benchmark?

It's worth noting again that I tried from Maximum graphics settings to Standard (Laptop) and the increase was only 5 fps, in an empty area no less. Something is definitely wrong and it appears to be happening in FFXIV only so far (I'll try playing other demanding games and check my benchmark along with other users of the GPU, but I don't think this is optimal method)

I have noticed that I have the max fps (120fps) in almost every instance (Except Ally raids as I haven't tested it)
However, in cities, the max I could have is 80-90, with the exception of Limsa being 50-60 and Hunt trains and S-hunts being 40-50.

I understand highly populated areas naturally cause to have lesser FPS, but it's really weird to have this problem on RTX 3060 ti but not GTX 1660 super, which was my previous.

    Heya,

it can be a VSync issue, that the framerate drops dramatically. Disable VSync and Gsync in the driver and VSync ingame. It is also important, that you do not have running tools like MSI Afterburner/Rivatuner. Those tools can also enforce VSync.

    Cheers

I have turned off the Vsync in-game in Limsa, a very populated area. However, the FPS count did not increase from around the vicinity of 45-50.

I tried finding the Gsync in the panel, but the option "Monitor technology" did not appear to me despite my attempts.

    Heya,

it is also important to disable VSync in the driver. Your information, that you have 120 fps at best is an indicator, that VSync is active somewhere. Maybe it is activated in the Nvidia control panel.

Start the control panel -> Manage 3D settings

and now you have two tabs: global settings and application settings. Disable VSync and also Tripple buffering in both tabs.

    Cheers

I've just done that. Unfortunately, no noticeable changes :/

Mhhh, OK. It is interesting. xD I have one more point: enable the fullscreen mode. Because if the game runs in the windowed oder borderless window mode then VSync is implicitly enabled.

My game was stable on fps even on hunts until the last patch dropped and now I have random fps drops nothing too serious but it does stutter out of nowhere, I feel like 6.50 and 6.51 may have broke the game (specifically around the time the cloud server test started), I used to play on my laptop with an RTX 2060 and a Ryzen 7 4800h with no fps drops except on limsa and in my desktop with an RTX 3070 and a Ryzen 5 5600x (both in borderless window mode) and performed pretty well until the last 2-3 weeks-ish when i started to notice tge stutter. Anyways i think it's something in the game rather than the pc malfunctioning or something
